Are there any good and current guides to how the strengths of various shields are calcuated in PvE? If not, could we please assemble one now?
This thread from a couple of years ago was probably accurate then, but many nerfs have happened since.
My thoughts start:
- Annulment and its morphs Dampen Magic and Harness Magicka have always scaled off of max magicka alone. Further, Dampen Magic is now capped at 60% of base health, while Harness Magicka is capped at 50% of max health.
- Exactly the same things are true of Conjured Ward and its morphs Hardened Ward and Empowered Ward respectively.
- The Bastion champion point line buffs shield strength. However, it does NOT raise the max health cap for the skills listed above, so it is usually useless with those.
- Does Bastion have any other limitations?
- Do we know the exact fraction of max magicka for the Annulment and Conjured Ward shield strengths? (The 2018 thread linked above thought they were both in the 35% range.)
- Steadfast Ward and its morphs seem to scale off of magicka and spell power the way most magicka skills do. Is that correct?
- Do we know how the Healing Ward morph further scales off of missing health?
And finally, for the PvPers:
In most cases, Battle Spirit is applied AFTER all other calculations. Are there any exceptions to that general rule? (Perhaps the health caps?)
