ESO. How about a pet that's a light-source.

Then we would have a reason to use non-combat pets.
I tryed the Thunder bug and Stone-fire scamp, non-com pets. no luck/light even in the darkest dungeon.
If ESO can do pets that add to storage space, why not something like this.
Wasn't there a goat pet whos eye glowed RED when Vamp/WW where near?
If ESO what's us to buy stuff, give us a reason. Like a pet that helps you swim faster or find plants and mushrooms or jump higher. Nothing major, just a reason to buy and use non-com pets

The little "Toxic Salamander" lights up intermittently. It's bright green light, but at least its light.

If you "need a reason" to use non-combat pets then you're probably not a non-combat pets type person.

there is a Lantern Emote that works well, but they just coded pets to be less strain on the servers, this would cause too much.
    PS NA

Yeah, i agree with the other posters here. i'm not really a non combat pet guy myself and I'd rather not see them have a use. People like them as is for their cuteness or whatever. Just hot key the lantern, or use the treasure hunter personality, or if desperate crank up your brightness.

Actually, My fav pet is the 'Loon'. Even after ESO nerfed it's call, A haunting song. But for some reason ESO kept the 'ghost chicken' echo call. go figure;)
    BTW, Have ya noticed a lot of zone environmental sounds are gone too. SAD;{

@Altaire until they do make a luminous companion critter here are some alternatives. 😊

For light sources to shed light upon the darkness....

    Treasure Hunter Personality (works best)

Some mementos that may work (* I haven’t tested them)

    Almalexia's Enchanted Lantern
    Finvir`s Trinket

    Hope this helps

Having pets as a light source should have zero Impact on the Server. The Rendering is done Client Side.

In a perfect word, pets would only be visible to owner or groupies. We got a ways to go to make ESO more perfect;P

Pet cabbage, warns and protects you from a gaseous cloud. maybe adds to AOE effect.
    I would buy that.

It is a nice idea and I would tentatively support its implementation, however pets can already be quite annoying to other players, this could add to such issues.

In case you were unaware, there are several relatively long lasting "mementos" that you can use to shed some light on the situation...

Almalexia's Enchanted Lantern - As far as I am aware, this remains the best source of useable light, it actually does light up the dark areas of any area you go. Its a yellowy white light.

Finvir's Trinket - this is far less usable as a light source, but it does work should you prefer it over Almalexia. Its a blue light.

I cant recommend Almalexia's Lantern enough, its a game changer in terms of lighting your way, and its basically free and can be kept up 100% if you need to.

    Twinkle the wisp!

My healer uses Illustrious Healing. Nicely lights up an area ahead as well as targetable into dark corners for check for loot.

Would love any purpose given to pets, light source whisps (that you can easily extinguish outside of it) for dungeons and such. Currently i dislike them greatly. They stuff our collections with useless pets but it serves zero purpose which is probably why most people i interacted with hate any pets.

I'm a fan of the treasure hunter personality, and the 'stow-it' add-on that automatically puts my weapon away after combat so my 'toon is free to use the torch all the time.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's the most immersive for me.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

How DARE you come onto these forums with an idea! These forums are only for complaints about ZoS did you not know that? The NERVE! If you don't believe me scroll down the list of posts 99% are complaints, now those people know how to post!

Great idea actually, for those that don't like it they don't have to use them if implemented.

I was wishing the torchbug pets would offer a light glow. Would be cool in the darker dungeons.

I played a lot of Dragons Dogma, 1 and 2, and liked how they implemented wearable lanterns. You really did need them at night and in caves. It would be cool if dungeons were dark enough that you needed the light source.
