Melee Damage, and AY

So, I have been following these forums for several years now, and there have been many discussions about what, exactly, constitutes melee damage. Apparently it’s not nearly as simple as it may seem, for a variety of reasons (Zenimax algorithms, changing rule exceptions, conflicting/misleading info, etc.)

Is there a consolidated list of melee damage spells/weapons, incorporating any U26 updates?

Barring that, I am particularly interested in knowing if the following result in melee damage (my guess for each is listed):

Bow light attacks - no
Dagger light attacks - yes
Barbed Trap - yes
Razor Caltrops - no
Endless Hail - no
Leeching Strikes - no
Blade Cloak - yes
Grim Focus - yes?
Surprise Attack - yes
Shrouded Daggers - yes
Killer’s Blade - yes
Dawnbreaker - yes
Incap Strike - yes

Real reason for this question is to understand which of these should be proc’ing Advancing Yokeda.

Thoughts?

Leeching strikes doesn't apply any damage itself. Given the range on grim focus and shrouded dagger, I don't think they would either.

I initially thought something similar about Grim focus, but then recalled the heal with it only activates when at close range (<7m) almost incentivizing melee type play with it. it doesn’t seem to fit neatly into either category.

Grim Focus wouldn't proc the effect because the range of the skill isn't limited to 7 meters, just the heal effect. Any skill that has a "Range" in its tooltip greater than 7 meters shouldn't proc the effect even if you are physically within melee range of an enemy.

That being said, if there's a melee skill that ticks every half second to maximize the proc effect I don't remember what it is. Light attacks are going to be what procs the effect every second, and if/when you miss one during the 1 second global cooldown is when a skill might proc.

I love running AY on my stamina characters, and still run it primarily over Lokkes in pug content. If you do a LA weave with skills like Whirling Blades or Rapid Strikes you're going to get the stacks from AY. You just need to be cognizant on how to keep up the stacks when you switch to your bow bar as none of those skills will proc AY.

EDIT: As @Skelfish said, Deadly Cloak is also a skill that you want up as it ticks melee damage every second for 10 seconds

Good info, thanks. I actually run trap on my back bar, and I’m also a big believer in deadly cloak (that’s on front).

@El_Borracho - Is trap not on your bow bar, or are you implying it won”t proc AY?

Sorry, forgot about Trap. It is on my bow bar. I was focusing more on the skills that you would consistently use to keep the stacks growing versus ones that don't. Thanks.
