Wheeler has moved on to other games and hockey matches. There is a new Combat Lead.

    Mixed up the W's. :/

But Wrobel did play Hockey. I rode in his car once. Let's say that hockey gear has an aroma and I will leave it at that.... :s

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

As far as I know, Brian Wheeler is still at ZOS and is still the PVP/Combat Lead.

Lambert said that they are not ready to talk about Champion Points, yet.

    ^This^

Last time we heard from Rich Lambert it was something they're actively working on ... but it might be next year until they're ready to roll out a plan.

I don't think Champion Points are a problem right now, more an area for improvement.

When they do make changes to it (as we've heard they intend to), what changes do you want to see?

I think it is an open field. My guess is that it is being redesigned from the ground up, or possibly even abandoned. It never did quite realize what they wanted out of it, I think.

The only certainty is that, no matter what ZOS does, the forum will have a meltdown of epic proportions.

    Its simple

They are just re balancing the entire game with champion points in mind.

Next year they will remove them.

    Nothing can go wrong.

tbh it doesnt matter if they make it possible to teleport into tamriel and play like its reality, as long as its lagging like it has been for the last couple years or so (worst the last year) Lagg will ruin everything.

If they actually abandon or nerf cp by a lot, i don't think i can get over that, because it will clearly tell me just how much they actually care.

I really like progression systems, so if they remove it, or limit it, i don;t think i will play ever again, iv'e already left a couple of times for long periods, and this would be the nail most probably unless they do a really good job everywhere else, but i doubt it.

The problem with CP right now though is that its been 1.5 years since the last increase and they have NOTHING to replace it. I was 810 sometime around Vvardenfell update, so for many players, there have been no linear progression systems in the game for a number of years. Its pretty stalled out now.

I think it is, it's not just cp, i think this game lacks something to keep ypu playing for more than a few weeks at a time.

In short they made a cool system, and that's it, they didn't really think about a complementary system to accompany cp, so that the content doesn't get massively outscaled, but this isn't just about cp. Did you know that cp used to increase your max resources by up to basically 60 % when you reached max? That no longer happens.

There are so many cool things they could do with cp, especially the perks that you get when you have a certain amount of cp into that tree, since most of them are not very cool.

Anyway, the game is hurting indeed, but it's not just a cp thing.

But pretending that these 2 years where no cp increase happened are good to the game, it isn't. And i don;t think zos will take the most appropriate actions to deal with this.

I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it, the current situation with the AA’s not advancing is simultaneously unacceptably rediculous and also a testament to how great the game is such that they could still have a player base after so long with no advancement.

For people who have been here long enough, we're starting to drop off like flies. We know what they promised, we know what they didn't deliver on and we continue to wait for a reason to actually play frequently. I've gone from many phases at this point.

    Started as Optimistic (2017):
    • Class rep program notes identifying core issues with the current combat balance, community provides amazing feedback that we finally know is heard, but obviously later forgotten..
    • Morrowind was largely a success as the first chapter, getting a new class was exciting, the zone was awesome, trial and sets were great, loved it, despite the great NERF-pocalypse, the direction of the game seemed promising.

To in between Optimistic and Pessimistic (2018/2019):
    • New combat team to streamline a full vision for the future of the game.
    • No real class changes after previous acknowledgments from class rep program
    • Class rep program becomes silent under NDA
    • CP put on hold for a revamp with no information for the future with the underlying question, is CP responsible for power creep? The answer is NO as many have already put.
    • Racial rebalance with focus on flat stats over % based multipliers. Not perfect, but it should get ironed out promptly right? (wrong)
    • Skill audit to fix broken/weak skills that never got touched, some cried for homogingization while I considered this the promise of easier skill balance with justifyable standards for every skill meaning Spell Crafting and new Class skills is a bigger possibility than ever before.

    To Begrudgingly Pessimistic (2020):
    • Skill audit and class changes abandoned for technical improvement plan which made the game worse to play even in PVE where it previously only affected PVP
    • Skill audit broke dots, they're now worse than they were pre Elsweyr with many not worth slotting.
    • CP still on hold 1.5 years later, racial balance still imbalanced since launch with Woodelf/Khajiit/RG/Argonian the worst of the bunch and Orc supreme leading pve race
    • Vampire revamp with the main intention to create a more usable skill line with less reliance on passives forcing 80+% of the playerbase to use them, to only be changed for a similar outcome where it's used by 80% of Magicka players because Blood for Blood creates infinite magicka sustain in pve. A toggle skill is also just boring and shoots healers in the foot.
    • Previous skill audit optimism felt like it was for nothing, new chapter brought a forgettable mobile game experience as the selling factor in terms of a new game mechanic instead of what most people expected; Spell Crafting or/and 1H + Rune Hybrid weapon. It could be grinded out to level 7 in about 6h, enabling anyone to then farm each mythic item within the first 24-48h of launch, if not, the first week. This feels very barebones, my only hope is they use this same mechanic for further minigames like a Card game in Taverns or Spell Crafting Tomes.
    • Chapter's trial sets are forgettable, they had 4 weeks to fix them, how they consider them worth peoples time today is beyond me.There is a clear issue when end game pve builds use Trial sets from Summerset (2018) and Elsweyr (2019) still. Not to mention how Mothers Sorrow (2014), a base game set is still 1 of the top Magicka DPS sets.
    • Finally getting perfected arena weapons for VDSA and VMA to only require refarming them instead of upgrading them. This is a huge shot at your end game player base and sets a precedent for future set rebalancing I'm not excited for.
    • Light/Heavy Attack ideas before U26 were just awful and completely off base.
    • Blanket healing nerf in pvp from 50% to 40%, doesn't tackle the real issue of classes that can overheal while nerfing classes that already had weaker healing. Offhealing is still overwhelming.

So at this point, I really only play the new content for about a week or 2 before I log off and forget about the game for another 3 months. I guess they got my money, so what do they care... it's just dissapointing and I find myself spending much less time in game. I spend more time on the forums (while I work) then I do actually playing the game.

They just can't stick to one thing and get it done, they managed to half-"butt" everything they promised. I'm still interested in the future of the game, but I just wish I could jump forward 1-2 years in their developement hell so I can see what the end result is. For me, U24-U26 has been a huge dissapointment.

How did the poster child for stamina class identity (NB) become one of the worst stamina classes to date, we all use to use them as an example for how the original stam classes should be updated. I guess thats why ZOS gave Stam Sorc a bow proc clone skill and DK a ranged/melee/cast time/instant/projectile/stun spammable? I just don't understand lol.

I don't really think that there is much of a "direction and vision" difference. I think that Wheeler is sorting through years of incremental decisions. If it were Wrobel, he would probably be doing the same. The overall "direction and vision" is largely the same, mainly because these are the realm of Lambert, and that has not changed.

For some weird reason they said that they want to balance their game first with all those standardization bs changes they are doing and then overhaul the CP system so they have to rebalance their game again after they change everything with CP. Typical ZOS fashion. Just pointless random changes.

I don't find CP exciting or adding to the game's depth. It is just there to farm until you can't.

I really do hope it all changes into a cool new system that is exciting and deep!

Some of the CP things like Master Gatherer are very useful and I love stuff like that!
