Lot's of Alts, a Main that does it all? A few of Each? Which characters do you play the most

I'm interested to know what people play. Do you have a main you do everything on? A ton of alts you swap between? A main and alts? Crafting alts?

Personally I have a Templar Healer main that can swap a few skills and DPS decently well that I use 90% of the time, a Warden Stam Healer that just hit 50 but kinda sucks (but peoples reactions to a stam healer are fun though) and a bunch of low level alts trying to find something I enjoy half as much as my Templar.

What about you?

I spend most of my time with two characters:

My Main Vestige, Varanis Arano, who's my crafter, PVE tank, and PVP Healer. She's the mostly honorable adventurer happy to help people and save the world, gradually discovering the bitter truth that you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.

My Silencer, Maria Montclair, who murders and steals her way through overland quests. "Oh, there's an immensely powerful [insert quest boss here] you need killed? Don't worry. The sins of the unworthy are gonna be baptized in blood and fear!"

I do have a "Main" that does get to work on achievements first, but I have 2 of each class, except for necro, where I only have one, and I do play them all, though some more than others.

I have a main and a few Alts for fun.
My main character is an Orc Templar tank, who has unlocked most vet DLC and questing achievements and is a Grand Master Crafter. Lately I use him mostly for the daily crafting writs, crafting, transmuting etc etc. Choosing the templar class was a mistake but kept him because of the amount of content he had completed.

For vet pledges I have an Argonian DK tank.

I also have a Breton magsorc I use in trials and PVP in CP-Campaign.

And a Khajiit bow Nightblade I use in PVP No-CP campaign.

I have a lot of characters; some get played more than others, but they each have their own role and story and they all do get played. That said, my "main" gets to do most content first and is the one with most of the harder achievements, like dungeon trifectas. My sorc tank has some of those as well, just not as many.

the option I chose fits the closest, but its mainly because of how achievements work in this game. if they were shared, I would swap between alts a heck of a lot more.

Does a ton of level 5 alts count?
I have a breton magsorc that I've played since the begining. I've tried branching out numerous times but get bored before they hit 50 and delete the character to start a new one. I've got about 10 lvl 5 half formed character concepts just sitting on the login screen... Although, i finally level a magplar and magcro for heals and tanking with the few friends I've convinced to play the game. They only want to dps, so i switch between the tank or healer (depending on content we run) so my main has become my solo/crafter/antiquities guy.

I mean, not exactly, because I have 2 characters I consider my main. Mostly because the tank sorc I leveled was created as an "extension" to begin with, since I got tired of respecing all the time :D
But ye, one main, then alts I play occasionally. I would play different characters much much more if:
    1. As someone said, account wide achievement overview.
    2. If changing equipment between characters wouldn't be such a headache.

I have 18 chars, all except the last one I currently leveling - lvl 50 with set gear (purple quality tho, I'm not that rich to golden up that many pieces). I really like to test and put up different builds and I play mostly equally on all of them. I do crafting only on main tho. I wish I could create even more characters as well.

I have a main and a few Alts for fun.
My main is a Breton stamblade named Ilsabet Menard. I do all of the quest content with her, and she's got an actual throughline character story complete with its own written chronicle. I usually try to get achievements with her, but in some cases I've unlocked dyes or collectables on other characters that could better handle the task. She's also my main crafter for everything except provisioning (since the character who was originally the consumables crafter has all the recipes, and I keep Ilsabet at T5 provisioning so I can collect more valuable recipes while I'm out and about). She's also currently rank 32 in ye olde Alliance War, which isn't bad for a PvE carebear potato zergling bowtard.

"A few" alts is actually a couple dozen, if you factor in the alt account and other server, but there are 15 characters on my main account and server. Most of them are there just to be there, and cover all of the class variations and party roles. They also do a great job of holding my stuff. They're all max-level, and about 2/3 of them have finalized gear and skill bar setups. Most of the alt account and EU characters are sub-50 noobs since I don't really do much with them. The alt account has an Argonian templar as its "main" character, and on EU I have a duplicate of my main character for noodling around with and taking screencaps of Darien.

The alts on my main account that I use most are a Breton mag warden healer/DPS that I use for questing with a friend, an Orc stam sorc who I used to run trials with, an Argonian Templar healer who I drag into pvpland when I need to visit the EP side, and an Altmer magsorc who usually gets called in when I want to run multiple pledges in a day.

I try to take advantage of everything the game can offer so I’m in the process of maxing out all that I can. My goal is to exhaust pve and then work towards becoming an adequate pvp player but I feel I’m as far away from that as I was when I started a year ago. I hope I can get there before they turn the servers off but I’m not in a rush.

I have a main with all the achievements and crafting knowledge which I spend most of my time on, but I also have several other characters I use for either crafting writs or fun. I am currently in the process of levelling a vampire which my main wouldn't want to be (as a werewolf it would be quite tricky.)

A bunch of characters I swap between and I love them all equally.
Closest I think to what I actually do. I have 10 characters, and while they're all master crafters(and a few are master thieves, or assassins), I categorize them a bit differently, but they each have their own class/build setup, for when I want to play that way any given day.
I have three 'Story' mains. When new content comes out, I play through it with them first. One for playing with the same friends I have since launch. The others, for trying other quest choices and playing at my own pace. These guys are my achievement hunters.
I also have three 'Cyrodiil' mains, one for each faction, so I can participate in the Alliance war without the hassle of entering or leaving it to do other things.
Which leaves four support characters in a state of flux, who exist partly so I have dedicated fall backs to join in on vet trials/dungeons, and who serve as prototyping platforms for more serious builds, who don't have an inventory full of irrelavent sets, quest items or siege engines.

My main does harder group content and all crafting/farming.

After that, I find it helpful to assign toons specific roles, as it were:

A tank that only does dungeons
    A VMA only toon
    A BGs only warden
    An IC DK

Beyond that, the other 10 alts i just mess round with looking for or testing ideas.

Before they dreamed up ESO+ I had 3 mains to split up the crafting (BS, Wood and Cloth, Alch, Food and 'chanting) and 3 mules to hold the mats.

Then I started playing the mules after ESO+.

Then I made more alts because I liked making alts, and I was mostly crafting on all of them for writ payouts.
I'm up to 15 'toons that I alternate playing on though I do top lvl writs on 14 of them every day, but several including newer ones are on a par with my stronger mains.

I have mostly Bosmer, followed by a buncha later made cats, and 2 token humans. I play everything but Dragon Knights, Orcs and Lizards.
My lvl 7 cat was made to help some new players I brought into the game, but they bailed after a few days because the game was too glitchy for them to feel comfortable in, all my other 'toons are lvl 1240.

I stick to delves and overland, because I prefer the exploration, I'm not that into arenas, or BG, and I haven't been in Cyro after 2015 when it started going 'bad' except to get the master fisherman achieve.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

I have two mains. The first is my original Templar healer, Grandmaster crafter. I use it for trials, DLC dungeons, vet and norm, solo 95% WB and now scrying. It can DD normal trials and dungeons as a DD or tank in a pinch as all mag/armour skill passives and taunts, are unlocked.
My second main is a Grandmaster crafter too and learning towards true style master. It's a vampire Magblade geared puely for stealing and assasination. It can literally sit on an npc's feet, rob them blind and routinely empties the town guard's pockets. The other ten alts are various classes and races for experimenting and fun, pvp and pve.

My main is a Khajiit stamwarden. Everest the Lionheart. He’s my crafter and I mostly quest with him. He’s a solid single target DPS and a lot of fun to play. Can handle most everything on his own. Currently he is my antiquarian also.

My second, Rivvikyn the Tenacious, is an Altmer Magicka Templar. I created this character specifically to solo all content. Massive AOE’s and virtually unkillable outside of veteran content. It’s fun to run public dungeons with this character for farming weapons and base game 4 man dungeons solo for the lolz. Bosses can be hard if I get snared more than twice in a row and my shields have run out. Otherwise he’s a beast and can AOE any mob no matter how large. It is easy mode though so it can get boring.

I have plans for a Necro or DK to start running trials but haven’t done the research to see which would be best. Want to finish treasure hunting and farming some stuff with the other two characters before starting my 3rd. Also waiting for an event with exp boost so I can get both up quickly and try the two side by side.

A bunch of characters I swap between and I love them all equally.
I have 15. At one point I played them all equally, I would start my play session by picking the lowest level one and playing on them a while before switching to the next lowest. I wasn't really advancing in the game much doing that though, so I eventually got a lil burned out and stopped playing for about 6 months.

When I came back in January or February I decided to focus on them one at a time. I now have 8 of them at CP420, the rest are all about lvl 30 except for a Nord mag Warden I made the other day to play through Western Skyrim on, she's level 8 and my current leveling focus.

The CP level ones, I'll switch between based on mood. I might go through a Stam phase for a couple or few weeks, or it might be a mag phase, or maybe it's my tanks or healers I'm focused on. Whichever ones are getting my attention currently I'll try to progress and perfect their build as much as I can before my mood switches.

The under 50s I take my time leveling mostly through quests. They're all themed and each one had a set leveling path in mind based on their theme when I made them, so when I choose one to be next I try to pick them up where they left off. It can be tempting at times to start switching between them again because I do like them all and sometimes I'll really miss playing on one or more of them, but I resist because this one at a time approach has felt much more rewarding.

I do have one character who is except from my mood swings and gets playtime every day regardless, but that's only because she was created to be my crafter and so she always has work to do. After her crafting maxed out a while ago I started slowly unlocking her combat skills and passives. She's a Bosmer Warden who runs around overland as a stealthy ranger/thief type, and can run pledges as a Stam healer, currently going through silver & gold on her.

I also have one under 50 character who I hop on occasionally "off cycle" if you will. But he's sort of a special case as he levels exclusively through PVP and doesn't really have a storyline that he follows other than being an Imperial fighting for what's left of the IC and it's surrounding lands.

    All the Alts!
I have a main character, a magicka sorc, with whom I do questing, crafting, antiquities and general achievements with, except certain content, due to RP reasons (like DB/TG, which I leave for my 'criminal' magNB character :D), however, when it comes to group PvE, or PvP, I play with multiple alts, mostly my stamina DDs (NB, sorc, and necro). I'm ridiculously fond of my main character because I learned the game with her, but I actually prefer to DPS on stamina, which I discovered half-way through my ESO life, and now I love it. I also like to play on my healers (warden and templar), and funnily enough my highest PvP rank is on my templar healer. I have two tanks (DK and sorc), I play less with them, since I'm not very familiar with the role, but between the two I prefer my sorc tank. There's some alts I would with play more if I had the time to learn their rotations properly and gear them (like my stamwarden and stamplar), and sometimes I feel bad about my less-played characters, but at least I try to have them all outfitted, with their trained mounts and pets

I have a main and a few Alts for fun.
I main an Imperial Stam Sorc, Sarenia Vessius. She’s my fighter, dungeoneer, adventurer, treasure hunter, assassin, crafter and now antiquarian. In a perfect world she’d be a Nightblade. I love playing Imperials from a role-playing perspective; they’re displaced from their home, so logically fit into any alliance in a mercenary role; and as the description for the Cyrodiilic Jungle House states, “An Imperial is, of course, at home anywhere in Tamriel”. And unlike the base races of each Alliance, if they wander into opposing factions zones it doesn’t seem quite so strange to me if they’re attacked by the forces of their own alliance. And because I much prefer playing Stamina DDs above everything else.

I do have some alts; currently two level 50 AD Bosmer Nightblades, one PVE one PVP; a level 15 D.C. Breton Necro, a level 12 Nord DK I’m trying to make my first tank out of, and a level 10 Redguard Nightblade. I only have one rule in character creation - “No tusks, no tails”, as I don’t like Orcs, Khajiits and Argonians. I do have a few more characters simply as placeholders to reserve names for future use. But I must admit I keep coming back to Imperials...

My main does it all period, Achievement’s and quest as well as Grand Master Crafter. She learns everything first before anyone else. That said right now she and my time is focused on doing the new chapter content. Once it all done which is probably 70% completed already, I will probably park her back in Vivec city for crafting and play my other 17 pretty much equally.

Two already have the Title Tamriel Hero and working on a few more on it. All have completed the main story and all guilds up to date beyond Antiquities.

God i have played this game to much
