High Hrothgar as a Q3 DLC Dungeon?

So I’m trying to figure out possible locations for Q3 DLC dungeons just for fun. I think it’s safe to say that the new dungeons have to meet the following two requirements:

1. Be somewhere in or close to Western Skyrim since presumably they will be tied with the Dark Heart of Skyrim main story like the last year’s Q3 dungeons were tied with the Season of the Dragon story.
2. Be in a zone where we haven’t had DLC dungeons yet as ZOS has never added DLC dungeons to the same zone in more than one update.

Now, of course, there’s always a possibility ZOS may surprise us and do something different this time but I would say it’s safe to assume that probably won’t happen and the new dungeons will likely meet the above mentioned requirements.

Where does that leave us? The zones that are close to Western Skyrim are Wrothgar, Bangkorai, Craglorn, Cyrodiil, Eastmarch and the Rift.

Of course, Wrothgar and Bangkorai had new dungeons in the Q1 DLC so they are most likely out. Craglorn and Eastmarch also got DLC dungeons in previous updates. Cyrodiil is a possibility (we have a precedent with group dungeons in another PvP zone - Imperial City) but it just doesn’t seem likely to me.

So that leaves us with the Rift and, of course, Western Skyrim itself. I don’t have any theories on possible locations for a dungeon in Western Skyrim but one obvious location for a group dungeon in the Rift is definitely High Hrothgar.

I’m not sure what the story for such a dungeon could be since the Greybeards don’t have any connection to the Grey Host, nor do they seem to have anything that could be of value to them. Still, I thought it was worth sharing this theory and invite everyone here to speculate together.

So what do you guys think of High Hrothgar possibly being a group dungeon? Do you have any other theories on locations for the next DLC dungeons?

I think High Hrothgar would be a nice inclusion for storytelling, being involved in the conclusion of the year long plot, but as a dungeon, not so much.

Forgotten Vale maybe, Castle Volkihar maybe. Winterhold, Whiterun, maybe even Markath. There's a lot of options from Skyrim that could be repurposed.

I think a dungeon in Blackreach could be an option instead of Western Skyrim.

Well, we're most likely getting Markarth as an overland city in Q4 DLC so that's definitely not an option for a dungeon. But other options you mention could be nice, yes. Especially the Forgotten Vale as ESO can definitely use some Snow Elf-related content.

Oh sure. Sorry, I wasn't specific enough but by saying 'Western Skyrim" I meant Blackreach as well, so yes, I think this is definitely possible.

Frankly, I'd be a little surprised if the Greybeards needed the help of a couple random Undaunted.

    *cue Boss fight*
    "FUS RO DAH!!"
*boss is flung off the mountainside*

That's not even considering that Paarthurnax lives at the top of the mountain.

i think were going to markarth for q4 so something reach related seems plausible

Just tossing out that Grundwulf, one of the antagonists in Moongrave Fane, was a former Greybeard dropout.
