Yeah, when the flame atronach crates came out, I also ended up with like 4 or 5 of the same item - it was the apex horse, if I recall. I sent a ticket, and they told me the usual thing about how it's random, but I saved the rest of my crates for a later date and it didn't happen again.

So I dunno if I was just Cursed with Awesome, or if it really was bugged and someone checked to fix it. Either way, it happens, and it's more annoying than you'd think.

I opened 35 (?) Crates and the only worth while thing I got was a cursebound horse. Sigh

Back when they were still giving out free Crates at the beginning of each season, there were several people who got Apex and even Radiant Apex mounts from those free 3 Crates... while others who actually bought 30+ Crates didn't manage to get any. I remember because the bragging and the salt in guild chat used to increase during those promotions lol .

RNG is RNG. So these variations are all statistically possible.

Probably why they fixed the free crate we got with Greymoor so it have the same cosmetics to everyone.

They couldn't just get rid of the crappy potions and *** from that table and leave worthwhile things 🤷🏾‍♂️

im not talking about the drop chance to get something good, im talking about the fact that i got 5 times a mount and 5 times it was the same mount which from the selection of 5 mounts has a 0.032% probability to happen - im sorry but i just can not see how this is just bad luck

Your complaining about getting a apex mount 5 times? Wow that is an new one, its like someone complaining about winning the jackpot.
You should be grateful the Rng choose to favor you. 132 Gems each time the mount is drawn. You can buy other radiant mounts with that or the new Accursed Death which by far is the best looking polymorph Zenimax has ever made.

you dont know how many crates it took ^^
    tmbrinks wrote: »
In all the crown crates i opened i got 5 times one of the seasonal mounts FIVE TIMES it was the SAME mount - the wolf

You know what the probability is that this happens? 0.032%

yeah, sorry but something is either bugged or influenced, saying that this is unlikely is a grandious understatement, I am more likely to get eaten by a shark than this...

    0.032%

    or

    1 in ~3000

Do you think 3000 people opened crates?

Who do you think is most likely to "complain" about "poor luck"

    It's just RNG.

Also, the situation you're describing is 0.077% likelihood or about 1 in 1300

no wrong im calculating the probability to get 5 times the same mount out of a selection of 5 which is as stated

I actually thought there were 6 mounts as usual

Your calculation is the odds of getting 5 WOLVES (and specifically just the wolf), as (1/5)^5 = 0.032%

The odds of getting 5 OF THE SAME MOUNT is only (1/5)^4 (because the first one can be any of the 5 possibilities), which is 0.16% or 1 in 625.

    They are different calculations

This. People forget that about statistics - if the odds of something are "1 in 10000"? If 100k people are doing it, 10 on average will have it happen. (Or "hey, you're one in a million!" "gee, thanks, that means there's 2000 people just like me in China.")

Reminds me of them Alchemy specializations came out in WoW waaaay back when - Transmute spec gave you a 15% chance to get double production when you did your daily Transmute (I think that was it). So of course people came yelling it was broken when they didn't get any in two weeks. But compared to the number of people playing WoW at the time, and doing the big new crafting thing? Of course a bunch of people were going to fail that much. Didn't mean it was broken at all.

And yeah - the people who get hit by the bad end of the RNG curve are the most likely to speak up about it.

seriously though, rng is just weird and random. not just here either. for example in Division 2 - I don't like or wear masks in outfits. I got the same rare mask from crates (you can earn keys through gameplay, so there is that and i wish this was an option in ESO, but i digress) half a dozen time. my SO who loves masks and wanted that one in particular, cause its very similar to the mask his character wore in Division 1. opened more crates then I did. got ZERO masks.

    rng /sigh

which is why nowadays i only buy crates with gold and only when there is at least 50% legendary and bellow items that I actualy want, never more then 45 per shipment and just hope to get enough gems to buy the items rng didn't bless me with. I also generally have zero hope or expectation to get anything from radiant apex tab.

and even with that outlook, rng all too often manages to be particularly cruel and give me mostly cheap items that don't convert to enough gems. ah well.
    dirty worthless casual.

Because someone asked, crowncrates.com is the Crown Crate drop tracking website. Highly recommended to check anytime you feel in the mood to buy crates.

I can't believe they introduced NO new Solitude or Vampiric structure items in Greymoor, but added a 100 gem gate

So you opened 5 crates and got 5 apex mounts? That is an amazing blessing from RNGesus, the amount of gems you got from that surely gave you enough to buy whatever you really wanted from the crates.

    no OF COURSE NOT

I opened A LOT more crates but all the 5 times from the MANY crates i opened when i got a apex mount it was 5 times in a row the exact same one

5 times i a row is still amazing rng-luck. Some people have played the game since they introduced crates and have yet to get a apex mount. Not me, I've gotten a few, but I'm sure they exist.

Anyway, try to be less rude, no one is forcing you to by crown crates.

I got a free radiant apex mount a couple years ago. The Dwarven Senche. Although its been devalued some with the release of the Dwarven wolf mount antiquity.

    or worse

see here is my problem with that argumentation - the good thing about these types of monetizations is that a small number of people finance a large portion for a large number of people unwilling to do so...

If you would remove this type of monetization - since we can assume a company wants to make an increasing amount of money and not less - it would most likely lead to an increase in all forms of monetization that can not be circumvented especially hurting the people that try to avoid these types of monetization while benefiting the small group that engaged with them since they are now paying less...

So one has to wonder that the anti monetization crowd doesnt primarily hurt itself when they engage in this sort of criticism but who knows...

If this game was a freemium game I would not bother even trying it. Problem is this is a buy to play game with optional sub and currently performs like cheap free to play cash grab hack with additional optional freemium gamble crate monetization to match.

If this game performed like a sub game I'd sub but I will not put a cent in it before performance is fixed. And I do not believe it will get fixed. Too bad.

This variant definitely seems like the worst. I’ve had more low level duplicates than ever before, far fewer purple and gold items, and generally just thought the whole thing was pretty rubbish.

I usually end up feeling like “I got some good stuff” after buying 3 lots of 15 crates. This time I just felt like it was a grind, and a rip-off.

And let’s be honest, the drop, or RNG, has been growing worse on these things every time a new set is released. Think these are my last.

Yeah... I wrote about it in my post, but my mention of that website was removed for 'advertising'.

I think directing players to information about the game that is relevant to their question isn't advertising. Otherwise we should censor every post that recommends an external build guide, or skill line grind statistics, or youtube videos about the game...

Every player should be aware of their odds before they make a choice. There's nothing wrong with informed decisions. The 'house' may not like players to know their odds of losing, but really it should be standard to allow the disclosure of statistics.
