Antiquities Leveling

I've done the "qualifying" quest for Antiquities, but I haven't started scrying for anything yet.
I have several leads ready to go, including three gold leads.
But I know I can't start with those.

I'm assuming you have to start with green-tier leads, since those are the only ones currently visible on my Antiquities tab (I've found leads of every tier; green, blue, purple, and gold).
So I'm guessing you have to work your way up through the tiers before you are able to scry for gold leads?

The antiquity in which I am most interested (the Brazier of Frozen Flame) is categorized as Master level (I'm assuming that means I need both skill lines maxed in order to get my hands on it).

How many leads of each tier does it take, roughly, to reach Master level?

To build on what ninja's website says:

People usually level scrying + excavating Artaeum until at least Scrying rank 5, when you can get purple leads. Then, it's fun to go zone by zone, because each zone gives you a free green lead, which gives you a free blue lead, which gives you a 1-time-only purple lead. Collect all these "free" leads and you unlock a lead worth 100k.

Once you get Scrying rank 7, you can do SOME gold leads. You can do all Mythic item pieces, and some gold furnishing leads. IMO, this is a perfect time to farm Mythic items, since each Mythic item has 5 gold leads, and each lead gives +10 Scrying/Excavating. Not the fastest, but great multi-tasking. I got from rank 7 to 10 Scrying just by doing Mythic items, and a few zones here and there.

I just hope that we don't get, say 4/5 parts for a mythic, and then hit the 30 days and it all just disappears. Can anyone confirm this is/is not the case?

Remember to use the Scrying Tool to locate Dig Sites. Add it to your quickslots, really speeds up the grind.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

You don't increase your rank in both lines after you get the item. Green increases scrying by 1, blue items are +3.

Leads that weren't worked on will expire after 30, not the dug items/parts. Once it's dug, it's yours - kind of like fragments for collectables.

Also remember to buy the Antique map lead from any "merchant" in any zone you have the pathfinder achievement in.

I did greens in Artaeum to lvl 3, then alternated greens and blues in Artaeum to lvl 7. Took around 45 green scrys, and 35 blue scrys. Then I went to Coldharbour and did gold Void-Crystal Anomalies from 7 to 10. Took about 45 gold scrys.

Each person has their own way of doing it.

I started on my first character just scrying the green leads in different zones to unlock the blues. Then when I was able to scry blues, I went and did those to unlock the purples, along with some of the motif leads I had found.

Then I moved on to purples and my main can now do yellows.

So I started working on one of my alts as well (since I want the keen eye on everyone). So my sorc now does greens and blues, and my main does purples and yellows, but I'm not unlocking any more of the purple treasures because I want to save those for later alts.

Something else I've noticed while leveling alts is that the alt doesn't need a high level in order to dig something up, just to scry it and all the xp is tied to the dig. You can have a max character do the scrying, then swap to an alt to do the digging. The alt gets all the xp. This may or may not be possible due to the difficulty of the dig, but you can typically push a bit further than normal. I've dug up purples at level 1 on alts and dig ultimates on mid level alts (10 xp same as master tier).

So I assume from this if you have 10/17 parts dug up for the Wolf Mount, after 30 days, the lead for the mount no longer shows up, but next time you collect a fragment lead, the lead reapperas once more, and after you dig your new piece you now have 11/17?

some people grinded the hell out of it and were level 10 in a day or two. I am level 6 as I can only do so many leads in a day before I lose the desire. I enjoy taking it slow instead if grinding. I appreciate it more that way

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks, but what I expect to happen is that the lead for the mount will still be there, but there will be nothing "Available to Scry" for it, because you either dug up the leads you had, but they expired.

Remember that once you find a lead and dig it up, you have the lore for it, so it won't disappear from the reference in the Scrying menu.

It's pretty easy to get a system in place to level it once you work out how it all works.

Personally I don't see how the "get to 10 in three hours" is possible. I started in Arteaum and stayed there until about level 3. I then traveled to all the other small zones and did all the leads in them, including antique maps and any leads from treasure chests, nodes, thieves troves, etc.. Once I had done those I went to the next small zone. By the time I was done I was level 10 with some nice furnishings and a couple really great gold leads.

I didn't rush, per se, but it is all I did when I was online and I think it took me a week, playing only a few hours a day. I liked doing it this way because I DID get enough rewards to feel like I wasn't grinding and something to look forward to when I hit level 10.

I’m really struggling with gold leads- the dig site due to the bug it’s really difficult at level 7

    @Icy_Waffles

If you are on console, wait for the patch coming soon that fixes Gold Digs

If you are on PC, well, I held off on golds until i got the increase in Dig Time, too much luck is needed to get the correct direction to dig because of how the Scrying works at the higher levels.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, so forgive me if I give you the wrong answer.

Using your example, you have 10 dug parts for the wolf. Those aren't leads anymore, those are "fragments" (to use the game's terms). You won't be able to collect more leads for those parts you've already dug (until you have the full item. This is inside parenthesis because I'm not sure if you can find leads for the wolf once you complete the first. It's possible to do this with the music box, for example).

If you have more leads for the wolf that you didn't dig up in time, they'll expire and vanish from your account. You'll have to find them again.

Let's say you let the lead for the head expire, finding the lead for the legs, for example, won't bring the lead for the head back. You will need to find it again.

Best thing to do is to Scry and Dig up each lead as soon as you can. Only the leads disappear not the items you dug up.
If you are on PC this add-on will show among other things when the expiration of leads you have happens. https://esoui.com/downloads/info2651-DisplayLeads-withLocationInfo.html
