Some people (me included) enjoy it. Sorry, but get over it. Leads are spread up around almost all different aspects of the game, and that's a good thing.
There's forum threads complaining about leads being involved with fishing, PVE, PVP, justice system, did I forget something? Probably.
Everybody is pissed that a lead drops in the content they don't want to do. The fact that people literally cannot look past "I want leads in the content I like and nowhere else" is incredible to me.
Im actually untroubled by the fished leads, what irks me is the shoulder to shoulder unbelievable throng in artaeum right now. Alcast suggested it to level antiquities, plus theres a lead for a mythic item there, and i honestly havent found a single time of day when you dont have to fight for a node.
that just seems like poor planning to me. So many zones with many many nodes, and they pick Artaeum, which is pretty light on nodes to begin with.
The 'Don't like it, just don't do it it's not mandatory' posts really need to stop.
What does that even contribute to the discussion? Plus it doesn't even make sense.
If you think for a second, you might realize that Antiquities have several types of exclusive and bound rewards that do require you to grind the Antiquities skill, and then also grind random content for the leads which are often not related to the items at all. And the grind is mandatory for everyone who wants to stay competitive in their MMO, requiring access to the Mythic items.
Don't like mobile games? Don't play them! Sure.
But gear for my action-RPG which I do like isn't gated behind mobile games.
Except in ESO which did just that.
Want to have fish? You need to fish. Makes sense.
Want to have powerful combat gear? You need to... fish? How does that make sense?
If you personally don't mind the grind, good for you. But that doesn't change the fact that the gating of many Antiquities isn't very sensible at all. Several Antiquities come from multiple sources (Public dungeons and Treasure Chests and Thieve's Troves and dolmens and random Daedric encounters), and not a single person complained that too many sources ruin those Antiquities. So really, there is nothing wrong with asking for multiple sources for most other leads either.
Especially when it comes to the incredibly frustrating ones where the low drop rate RNG is combined with terrible sources. Like the fishing lead from Arteum. Arteum! One of the smallest zones already, but it also has an incredibly small shoreline. Why not add that fishing lead to Summerset or Auridon? Both have links to Thrassian lore, and they are not only much larger but also have plenty of coastlines. Or have the lead from from fishing, gathering mats, doing delve bosses too.
