I linked my account that I also use on Steam, that worked well. I can now login from my PC(Steam), Phone, or the Chromecast. I did have to purchase the base game again, it is $19.99 on Stadia but I got a discount to $9.99 so whatever. You DO NOT have to re-purchase any DLC or expansions you already have if you are linking an existing account to Stadia, don't do it!!

One thing I like to point out is the control settings, if you have custom keybindings on PC they do carry over to Stadia, even though there doesn't seem to be a way to modify those keybindings on Stadia except the default template layouts. I need to change a few because I have no way to open my map as its bound to the keyboard and Stadia doesn't recognize mouse + keyboard. I have to figure what I don't need, probably get rid of sheathe/unsheathe toggle for maps.

Add-ons... obviously don't work, since the game data isn't saved locally anywhere. The default ui is dreadful, I miss Azurah and Srendarr customization less than 5 minutes in, the default displays just can't cut it. Graphical settings seem to be based on whatever Stadia wants, so I lose out on my custom 165 FPS down to their 60 FPS. Shadows, I hate them, and they're turned on higher than what I'm used to.

My plan? Sometimes in the middle of the night or when I'm bored and don't want to turn on the PC, I can turn on my phone and start playing immediately to do a little farming, some questing, or goof around. It works... kind of, 2.4ghz connection doesn't seem to work, no matter what, even sitting next to the router even though everything else running works fine. There's still the signature Stadia random connection drop mid game where you spin uncontrollably or button lag happens. I would NOT PvP with this or do group stuff like dungeons, its unreliable. Overland its okay, just prepare to die often when the controller stops responding even on 1000 Mbps up/down wifi.

I don't know what Stadia is, and frankly, I don't care.

What ticked me off was suddenly ' this computer is not approved for this account ' when I went to log in. wtf

    what a nuisance.

    IMHO

How does ESO work on the phone, exactly? Are there touch screen controls? If so, how has it been using them?

Which mobile devices (tablets and phones) support Stadia?
For mobile gameplay, we support compatible devices like Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 4 phones. In the future, other devices, including tablets running Chrome OS, will be made available. However, you can purchase games and manage your content from any iOS 11+ or Android M+ device that can run the Stadia app.

Does the Stadia Controller only connect to phones and tablets using Wi-Fi, or can I connect using USB-C?
The Stadia Controller uses BLE for setup, then connects via Wi-Fi for gameplay. When you connect your Stadia Controller to your phone, tablet, or computer, you can use a USB cable plugged into the Stadia Controller's USB-C port. Learn more about the different ways controllers can connect to Stadia.

Wow. Seems like a very poor experience. It seems like a bad idea to have Stadia users play without add-ons against those who use add-ons. The lack of control and customization seems like one has to give up a lot to play on Google's system.

Power to those who want to play on Stadia as their primary device. OP seems to have the better idea, to use if only when convenient.

    @ccfeeling

This article from January says it will require Bluetooth controllers. If you spend a few moments on google you may find a more recent article.

BTW, when playing on Stadia via a phone remember it uses data like streaming a movie. Not ideal for many cellular plans.

The funny thing is, if you have a decent PC that can run ESO smoothly, that's also running whenever you might want to play ESO, you can literally set up game streaming yourself for free, provided you have an NVIDIA graphics card.

The program I use is Moonlight, and it basically piggybacks off of the NVIDIA GameStream streaming service to stream games/applications to any device that supports Moonlight, for free.

Laying in bed and want to jump on ESO and play for a bit? Grab a device that supports Moonlight (laptop, iOS device, Android device, etc), load up Moonlight, it gives you a list of games that GameStream recognises (you can add your own if some games aren't automatically found), start them up and play.

Supports controllers on the client (ie purchase a Bluetooth controller, connect controller to phone, Moonlight automatically recognises and uses it), supports up to 4K 120 FPS streaming, and can even stream remotely across the internet (ie if you're away from home) provided your connection is fast enough to keep up.

If you don't have a PC that can run ESO smoothly, then something like Stadia is your best option. But if you do, and if you're not afraid of spending 10 minutes following instructions to set up a third-party streaming program like Moonlight, you can have the same experience for free, with far more flexibility and customisability, since the games being streamed are games you actually own and have installed on your PC.

If you have an AMD graphics card, Moonlight won't work, but there are numerous other third-party streaming programs that work with AMD cards, such as Rainway or Parsec.

So do I understand this correctly

    1. Buy Stadia for 100$
    2. Have an active Stadia Subscription 10$
    3. Buy ESO base game again for 10-20$
    4. Keep my ESO Plus Subscription on top of the Stadia Sub

Just to play ESO on PC? lmao

On top of that you can't even use addons?

Stadia is free to use, though you can subscribe or buy games directly Alcast.
If people are planning on using Stadia I wouldn't subscribe to it so you can play Eso for free(Not really free more like renting) as its better to just rebuy the Stadia copy of the game and link Stadia to your Eso Account.

Ah so the sub is only for games that you haven't purchased? So you can decided to keep the sub and play all games for free or buy each game individually?

    Thanks

Occasionally the ability to log in for a couple of basic tasks when I'm away from home would be nice. Before The Plague I would frequently miss the last week or so of login rewards because I'd be away for days at a time either working or seeing family, and even during lockdown I've missed odd days here and there.

But I couldn't see myself using it for anything more than that, it doesn't sound like it's worth the hassle, or the cost. Especially since (as mentioned above) there are free options to get the game running on other devices.

You are welcome and its pretty much this you can subscribe and get access to free games(Renting Games) every month so long as you subscribe or buy them directly. So you can either subscribe and rent games for free games including Eso or just buy the games.

Having played for the evening on Stadia yesterday, it's akin to playing locally on console, with slightly better visuals. Input lag is not noticeably worse. I had no random connection drops. bandwidth here is ~60/15.

I just wonder how people will think about stadia service once their mobile data allowance is used and their mobile devices throttle down to a crawl and they can't continue playing on them. The comfort of occasionally using a mobile device to play ESO might be tempting, but don't think of it as being able to play for long like this - your data allowance will be reached quickly if you start to play like you are used to on PC.

EVE cost a seasoned player nothing at all even subscribed - there is PLEX (pilot license extension)- others buy it from CCP and sell it on the in-game market to get some currency and those buying it can extend their subscription with it. Any established player with a decent income in game can afford this - there might still be reasons to subscribe in a normal way.

I just wonder why ZOS isn't picking up this idea - in the end every subscription gets paid with real money by it, but it would give those with a lot of gold in the game a way to be subscribed without paying in real money and for casuals to get a decent amount of gold without the grind.

ESO is included in stadia subscription. I could see people that maybe go out of town regularly and would like to be able to log in on their laptops while away from their pc, using this. Prob wouldnt be raiding or pvp, but crafting, writs, daily dungeons and questing, sure.

Update: I was wrong earlier, Stadia only goes to 30 FPS regardless of subscription or not; that's disappointing. While it does use your custom keybindings from PC, it doesn't seem to update right away when you change them. I made a few changes that work on PC a couple days ago, but it hasn't caught up on Stadia yet. Newest update freezes when logging out of one character to the selection screen, it never gets past the wallpaper wait screen. Have to terminate the app and restart to select another character. They added a chat window, it's kind of wonky.

    What I'm playing it on:
I use an LG G8X phone with the detachable second screen, its custom gamepad mode does not work with Stadia at all. I ended up getting a Razer Kishi to try that out, had to take off my second screen, but it works right out of the box over the regular phone. Again its mainly just to do solo questing and such, when I don't feel like getting on the PC late at night or lounge around somewhere. So far I like it, even though there are a few hiccups here and there.

*Keybinds* I'm dumb, I have addons that make global changes to all my characters. No addons on Stadia so that doesn't work, I have to change the keybindings on each character individually.
