Game is mostly unplayable, but when its running in the background, other apps barely work, they also suffer from insane input lag and blocking.

IDK if there was a recent patch, but something is very broken.

I have the same issues. Not only does the game stutter/desync, it affects my entire PC. ESO is the only app/game that affects my PC in this way.

I submitted a ticket because I couldn't find resolution through any other means.

Interesting - this would explain why I now have really slow typing boxes when trying to put in comments below Youtube videos, even though the combat stutter is not really noticeable on my system.

For framerate issues like this one, the first thing to check is that all your drivers are up to date. You should also ensure Windows is updated along with removing add-ons that could affect performance. The following help article goes into more detail on these troubleshooting steps.

What can I do if I am having performance or framerate issues while playing ESO on PC?

i think they broke DirectX 11 multithreading on last patch. try capping fps in usersettings.txt -> SET MinFrameTime.2= 0,01666666 (60fps)

This specific issue has been a problem since release for me. My drivers are always up to date, windows is always updated, and I didn't use addons for years. The performance issue isn't related to ESO's performance directly. While in-game, I get decent enough FPS..but alt-tabbing causes my computer to basically become locked. Takes minutes for a single browser to open. My sound cackles. You can hear the fans in the computer kick into overdrive, and the ambient temperature of the room shoots up 10 degrees in about 4 seconds just from the extra heat the computer is producing.

The effect persists once I log out, too. Usually after I close ESO, I reboot because I know i'm not going to get to really use my computer at all, and I know its specifically because of ESO. It's nothing to do with our computers. No other game or app has a problem even remotely similar to this. I have been gaming on PC for 25 years and have never seen any computer game do anything like this to a computer.

This isn't isolated to just one computer, either. I own 4 separate computers and each one has the exact same issue any time I alt-tab. It's definitely ESO.

I'm having the same issue. All was working perfectly well last month (I haven't been on since then). I updated the game today and I'm getting single digit fps. I even tried to run a repair. Both my drivers and OS are up to date. I'm also getting this odd pattern on the floor:

If you're using an NVIDIA gpu, try rolling back and uninstalling to a previous driver version (Using Display Driver Uninstall). The new NVIDIA driver 446.14 that was updated on 27th May for some gpu's causes stutter and freezes in ESO on various Nvidia graphics cards (Not all, but some)

I had to rollback to Nvidia driver 399.01 on various pc's for it to magically stop the unplayable stutter's and freezes.

    Hope it helps,
