I find the whole thing bollocks. Tried it, no idea where to start digging coz nothings explained except you can apparently tell the different layers, found some gold, ran out of time, abandoned everything and went to do something constructive. And if you don't have the 20 whatever skill points needed, it's even more bollocks. That's my view and why I'm not doing it, plus there's no rewards to convince me to do it. I might have considered it for actually new motifs, but there's none of those. So.....

There's three new motifs from the system. Ancient elf, nord, orc.

Here's a brief run down of the onboarding for the digging tool. The in game one sucks I would have done it so much better.

You learn where to dig by using the R tool. You click on a square and the color will tell you if you are on top of it (green) or way off (red)

so it goes red (no where near it) -> orange (4+ squares away) -> yellow (1+ squares away) -> green (on top of it)

There are 7 layers total to the dig which can be taken away by the brush, the mini shovel and the big shovel.

There is a "time limit" which is not really time, its just a click count. You have X clicks to uncover the item before the "time" runs out.

Small shovel will take 2 or 4 layers away in a single click, but can damage the item if you go through the last layer with stacks remaining. So if you have 2 layers left and you 4 layer shovel, you will hit the item for 2 damage.

Large shovel takes out 1 complete layer of a 9x9 and is the workhorse of this system. You will damage the item if you clear the last level with the large shovel though, so its key to use it beginning with the small rocks layer.

It's a fun game that they explained horribly, if you have any more questions let me know i've guided dozens of people through it who couldn't understand the fundamentals.

I had a mini-meltdown over this the second day it came out because it was broken and I never went on the PTS and the onboarding is so horrible, so I understand wanting to walk away.

It works. I used this ONE weird trick by OP and get loot every time.

This sparkle bug has been fixed, I always get the item where it shows the item - don't you? Also, to get all loot you have to combine all the smoking parts and have them explode in one long line.

Fixed on PC at least. It's still janky on console.

Yeah i made this cause i figured with it dropping on console there would be an influx of questions

Or you know they could just fix it so digging up the treasure chest gives you the item instead of needing to look for the sparkly bits.
