To complete the zone/map, Does fishing need to be completed?, I caught most off the rare fish but i needed 1 more but kept getting the same rare fish i don't need, Like catching the same rare fish over and over again while i need the other rare fish...

So does it?

    That's a personal question.

It doesn't track in the zone guide, but there is an "Angler" achievement for every zone that has fish.

So if you are happy with just doing what the zone guide tracks, the answer is no.

If you are only happy if you check off all the achievements, the answer is yes.

Fishing is boring in ESO, Needs to be more fun, I don't think its worth and just for a stupid achievement then its not worth it at all, I know you get a new color or something but its not even worth it.

That depends on your version of “completed”, @MrAlanSmith.

Fishing is in it’s own separate category in your achievements. So, it’s not required for zone completion per se in the zone guide map completion or for your explorer achievement.

If you’re an achievement hunter or going for “Master Angler” to clear your feesh achievement, then it’s probably a good idea to clear it.

Yes it is needed. It's the best source of omega-3 fatty acids that our characters have.

Personally, I enjoy fishing on multiple different games. Yes this particular game has a fishing problem - it's boring and not very fun. Not to mention the bait is highly expensive if you try and purchase it. If you collect it? It will take you some time to accrue enough to last you a while. You could farm it, but you would be farming multiple sources for hours, as I've done many times.

I wish they would allow it to become a crafting skill. It supplements cooking, i.e fish meat and perfect roe. Everytime you level the skill, by fishing of course, it becomes slightly easier to find the more rare fish. As well as allowing a better fishing rod, and maybe, better updated bait. To add to this, maybe make a better minigame system for catching said fish. Similar to Stardews method, or maybe Black Desert Online?

Anything to make fishing more approachable to the masses.I personally don't mind the fishing, but updating it and making it relevant couldn't hurt. Just an idea.

Depends on the zone. Non-dlc zones award dyes, a few dlc zones award nothing, and there is Summerset. Summerset and Arteaum drop special loot bottles/satchels that have motifs, recipes, and or other things.

Fishing is the most quiet activity in the game and it is optional. It is not required unless you want the stuff you can get from it.

Yeah it started to get a little more fun in Summerset because you got bottles sometimes but does need some love so its not so boring. Either more interact or better rewards or both. Anything would be an improvement at this point.

I think from time to time you should catch a world boss then have to decide run like hell or stay and fight.

Or you simply enjoy a quiet break now and then from all the active adventuring etc, which is how I approach it. I'm certainly not averse to improving it, but on the other hand I find it fine as it is.
