ESO really needs an optional difficulty slider/veteran mode for solo content, here is my idea

Can anyone list a multiplayer online game that has a difficulty slider?
It would create conflicts where Johnny on easy setting got his drops but Sally did it on hard.
    How is that fair?

that's why they would have to separate instances

And why these sliders don't exist in multiplayer online games, the amount of servers in the farm would need to be greatly increased.
You can for individual quests, but it would be very costly to have multiple overland instances.

Like we already have with very populated zones? How many times you found to be in different instance of the same zone with a friend of you? For me it's very very often.

In general it comes to fear of people that with greater difficulty there will be greater reward, and they feel it would be obligatory for them to play in harder difficulty. That's the whole point of this discussion. One side wants more challenge, other side afriads they will be forced to leave their comfort zone. For me just the fact I am able to manage with harder environment is enough of a reward.

I am all for some increased difficulty, but a personal individual difficulty slider in an online game is not feasible.
You would have to do it like Overland 1 is normal and Overland 2 is hard and many players choose one or the other so they can play together with the same difficulty. Remember this is about overland mostly.

I don't think a Slider is viable but one clearly harder instance like Normal and Veteran

Why do I never see these people in Craglorn after they complain on the forums about the game not being difficult enough? If people wanted more difficult content, the zone would be flooded with people outside of Belkarth and the zone is almost always dead as can be.

Because not all quests are in Craglorn.

Suggested hundreds of times. I myself made an elaborate post over a year ago along the same lines.
    • Add an optional debuff
    • Gather new currency like Tel Var with this effect
    • The more of the currency you carry, the weaker you become
    • Trade in currency for new rewards (motifs, furnishings, leads, etc)

It's easily one of the most requested features, and very light on development because every necessary technology (e.g. scaling) is already in the game.

Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

I also made a suggestion post for this quite some time ago.

In my learned opinion, it's one of the most needed features to keep vets interested in ESO long-term, and one of the most ignored requests by ZOS. I remember an AMA with Rich, where he bluntly said they aren't even considering an optional vet difficulty for overland.

Put simply: ZOS doesn't seem to care about keeping vets engaged with their story content. It's like they think all the vets in the game are only here for endgame activities. Apparently the majority of content in every Chapter and DLC zone is geared towards new/returning players, and us vets should just be happy with scraps that we get each year. All ZOS seems to really care about is the new player experience.

It's the reason I still haven't completed any Chapter zone. I haven't even touched Western Skyrim, and honestly, I probably never will if they don't change things. I simply do not enjoy storytime themeparks with zero difficulty.

im currently playing super synthetic glass cannon overland build for quests.
9k HP, no CP*, no damage shields (glass)
top crafted gear, green res pool food (cannon)

and it's kinda not challenging at all. Yes, some stuff can almost oneshot you, but then you block dodge vigor. And by that time that thing probably already dead. Still, such gameplay is a bit more fun than immortal faceroller.

*green CP tree with passive skill for better chest drop.

I already did Craglorn, I loved soloing the (remaining) group delves.
