So by 30+ hours of new content, is that 15+ hours of waiting on harrowstorms?

The spawn rate is terrible, I stood at one today for 20 minutes and finally just gave up. Why are they so bad?

It is very bad, each zone should have its own spawning times. Not across the two.

I spent more than an hour waiting for the central (Black Morass?) overland one.

Greymoor as a whole wasn' t a bad experience but I'll wait for the bugs to be removed and mechanisms to be straightened before I return to Skyrim with another character.

I think ZOS stated that there are 2 harrowtorms active at the same time - 1 in Western Skyrim and one in Blackreach. When you destroy it, it doesn't have a spawning pattern - it pops where it pops.
There is no spawn cooldown (or a timer) - need confirmation on this - as far as I know; when you destroy it, the next one spawns.

Wish I wouldn't have bought this one. I'll finish it but plan to move on to other games.

An easy fix for that is to make it a rotation then.

I've noticed that when one goes down another one usually pops up in a few minutes but yeah it's completely random where. I usually get my Harrowstorm daily done pretty quick but I can see those who are waiting at one harrowstorm might wait for a bit and that sucks. The only time it takes a long time is if a location bugs out.

My question is: Why are you guys waiting at one Harrowstorm when you have 10, in total, to choose from? Just to clear it? It can't be a distance thing because I can usually get to Harrowstorms on my lowbie who has a speed mount of 3.

Well currently since it just came out on console, everyone is waiting by all 10 so once they finally spawn they get finished in under 30 seconds so there isn't enough time to get one you see active right now. Also completionism

Ah, true. That makes sense for console.

Problem on PC is that so many people have gotten tired of waiting for harrowstorms and moved on to other things that when it pops at the place you’ve been waiting two hours at, there’s no one around to help you with it, so you die a few times and move on to something else yourself.

See now that I question. Why on PC are people waiting at one storm? I have completed all Harrowstorms on 3 different characters and that's mostly from doing the daily each day. Maybe it's a timezone thing idk.

Maybe because most people don't like unproductively running around from ritual site to ritual site (especially in Blackreach) to see if one is active, maybe just finishing up by the time they get there, etc. And there is still the problem of empty storms with no mobs. I also find it amusing that folks say, "Oh, just go stand in this one spot and you can see four sites"..... half the time I can't see 300 yards away because of the weather (or maybe just having an old system like many folks do that just doesn't render that far).

Sure, if you're dedicated and have hours to spend chasing storms that don't pay out well and don't have better things to do with your limited game time, then you can make it work. But most folks don't have the patience to jump through unnecessary hoops or the funds to not have to make quick gold for your guild dues, armor, housing stuff, and so forth.

bad sets, bad harrowstorm mechanics, pvp only mythic sets, mediocre storylines. God whats the reason for going there at this point

I don't understand why the storms don't have similar icons on the map to the dragons in Elsweyr. I feel like that's a very simple mechanic that would help people locate where the storms are, and I've seen people commenting the most about that one specific issue in multiple places.

Not that it would solve other issues of course, but it seems like such a simple solution to the "where is this storm" problem.

My guess it they feel it's a performance issue, one more client - server communication macro that could theoretically slow the server down. But honestly, Western Skyrim outside of Solitude already seems like a ghost town on PC, I can't imagine that a couple of interactive map icons would hurt that much.

Well, if you are waiting a one harrowstorm you are doing it wrong. As other people already pointed out, there is only one storm active at a time and they have no spawn pattern. I usually get all western Skyrim dailies done in about twenty minutes.

    How to farm the harrowstorms?
    - Don't farm in blackreach, do it in western skyrim. They are easier reachable and usually don't have 30+ people waiting at it.
    - The four southern harrowstorms can he seen directly from a wayshrine. Port around this wayshrines to see if any is up.
    - If not, check the northern two harrowstorms by porting to their nearest wayshrine and ride north through the mountains to the edge of the cliff. If up they will be visible from here.
    - Repeat the search cycle.
    - Be nice to the other people looking for the storms and call out one in the zone chat if you found one.
    - Repeat

You can see the northern watch ritual from the Frozen Coast wayshrine as well
