I think these all sound awesome. I too wish BG had some more options (groups or not).
I would even like to see modes without teams. Like a free4all deathmatch. A multi-chaos-ball round (3- balls total, and no one is on a team).

Stuff like:
• Swamp Battleground, with lots of wet ground patches that reduce movement speed and disable gap closers - advantage ranged. Might also have increses in ice damage slow and lighting splach range in the wet spots...
• Darkness/Fog Battleground, with severely limited visibility (either total with fog, or broken by well lit areas with darkness as mentioned) - advantage melee.
• Icy Winds Battleground, stay close to the fires and fight over them, or suffer "freezing" debuff... but fire damage is reduced for everyone...
• Thunderstorm Battleground, with random lightning strikes (perhaps also where using lightning magic has a chance of also drawing a random strike to the casters vincinity?), and random wind gusts pushing characters in some direction, possibly off a cliff if they are not careful...
• Unquiet Graveyard Battleground - where each time someone is hit with bleed damage, a patch of ground where they got the hit is filled with undead arms reaching out, trying to snag someone, anyone, in hopes of getting a bit more of the red stuff?
• Misama Battleground - where some mystic-fog covers the battlefield and gives a random special effect throughout the battle, like... a yellow-green disease misasma that prevents ALL healing, or a white-gold mist that greatly increases health regeneration, a blue magica-leeching misasma that makes magica characters despair, or a orange heat-haze misasma that doubles the cost for all stamine activities? It would be random, and there could be interactables that would change the type to get to and use in the hopes of switching the battlefield to your groups favor...
