Shady practices in IC

Hey all, id like to discuss something i witnessed a couple of Times as I spent time in IC farmin leads. I predominantly play Pve so going in i assumed id have trouble keeping any telvar if i didnt waste time running back and forth to Base.

I was fine with that. However during those three days i noticed a certain playstyle (?) a couple of Times. There where groups of three players, each time there where two characters of my own alliance. The third character of an oposing alliance. They werent attacking each other, sometimes one or two of The character would be completely passive in stealth while The third would be pvping.

One time one such isolated group was alone in The arena (at least didnt react to me observing round The corner) and The one character Who was from an oposing alliance would start repeatedly killing one chacter while The third ressed him back. Two characters would then enter stealth in the corner and go passive.

Watching this i could only assume that some form of Telvar banking was being performed. Seeing a couple of These constellations got me thinking that there might even be single players using separate accounts simultaneously?

Regardless, as a solo player, and being ok not gaining any telvar from my trip there, it still felt quite unjust if People are circumventing the risks of carrying Telvar. Seems to easy to use characters from different alliances as scouts giving unfair advantages, as well.

What are your thought on this? Similar experiences? I can say that it left quite a bad taste in my mouth, not exactly raising my enthusiasm to go back.

This is not about Tel'Var. There's an achievement, which requires you to kill 100 enemies in the arena, for this they are only counted if you do the killing blow.

Guess that's what this is about.

If you don't want to waste time running back to the base, just go to any cyro campain and return to IC. Just beware that you can be killed during the first few seccods of loadingscreen, so you better go stealth in a corner.

Fun fact: the IC event allows you to get all the achievments quite easyly but, despite that, ppl still waste their time to get them outside the event...

This just in: Players try to exploit PvP.

Seriously, PvP has always been about finding exploits to do things more easily. PvP in ESO is no exception. And ZOS doesn't even bother commenting on something like AP Boosting in Cyrodiil.
Even in PvE -- you don't even have to be particularly good. Just go buy a carry for the hardest trial and dungeon achievements...

Ah thanks @sdtlc that probably explains The arena thing. @Zer0_CooL thanks, Great tip.. If I head back i certainly Will try that. Bugs me still tho that these kinds of workarounds exist, since its not apparent and not every one seems to use it.

Im a little less paranoid about what i saw, given that explanation, still bothered by obvious cross alliance teamwork tho.

Sun Tzu wrote about this already about 2500 years ago in "the art of war" - the value of spies and especially double agents and cross faction coop using those double agents. So this is nothing new at all and done in real life for long. Sun Tzu even favored tactics based on spies and double agents. Secret services of nations are the continuation of this - so this is all still valid even outside of war and accepted method for military intel or other benefits to be gained from it. Is it cheating?- Of course, but war is no sport, it has never been fair.

People exploit in PvE too. Remember the vMOL and vAS snipe glitches? I even remember a low cp guy that sold vMOL carries that way.

The arena in that district is part of a PvE quest. It's not a place a PvP person goes, except for that achievement which requires finding someone else on an opposing alliance to go with you (or trying to kite/bait someone in that district in). Or you can wait for some PvE person to go in and start the quest which requires killing waves of NPC enemies, including ones at boss level, and then kill them while they're otherwise preoccupied (which is a jerk move).

I've seen groups do this. Some of them actually fight each other, similar to a duel, and their alliance allies don't get involved except to rez whoever died. Then another person might duel or they might face off again. Those players are generally not carrying much/any telvar if they went strictly for the achievement and AP gain is severely diminished when killing the same player over and over.

Tel Var saving is way easier than that. Just queue for Cyrodiil while being in the IC to save your Stones. Doesn't cost you recall stones and you can even vanish during combat.

So it was more likely the achievement they were after.
