MY message was not to clear. Sorry typing issues. I have not played in a week. I had giant download at that time because I was a returning player after a hiatus. BUt that wa sonly about a week ago. Now it wants another fairly large download of 5GB+. and the button says repair on it. How does a game you not playing get broken.

There have been several patch maintenances to correct on-going issues since Update 26 dropped on May 26.
I would imagine that was what your system has been updating.

wow..thank you . 5GB patches are ridiculous however. They need to patch only changes ..Not entire files.

... I see you do not play on console. 5 gigs is bloody nothing, friend.

Hah so true! Each new release the size goes up a little...passing 50 gigs soon.

Normally when there's a patch that needs to be applied, I don't think it says "Repair" on the button, so if this keeps happening day after day then you might need to check into it-- scan your hard drive for errors, defrag it if necessary, make sure you have plenty of free space available on it, etc.

But a regular patch can indeed be rather large, so by itself the size of the download shouldn't be cause for concern. And while it used to be normal for the game to be patched every week-- usually on Monday mornings, such that the launcher would need to download and apply the weekly patch when you first launched the game after patch Monday-- that schedule is having to be changed to accommodate ESO's launch on Stadia, such that patches will be released less frequently.

Also, if you're playing on PC/Mac and have the PTS server enabled in the launcher, sometimes the launcher will download and install patches and updates for the current PTS version. But you can still launch and play the live version at those times, even if the launcher is downloading stuff for the PTS version.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
