Blocking may hell to some degree against everything relying on direct damage, but is pretty much useless against dots. Thx to proc sets dot damage is actually every class‘ strength if they want it.
Therefore actually best way to survive this patch is being evasive: dodge a lot with additional tools of mobility or other form of damage avoidance.
