Help with a light attack build...

Hey folks,

A couple of casual friends of mine took me down this path and now I wanna own it. I’m looking to make a build that will put out decent DPS with just using light attack via a bow.

Decent dps in this case doesn’t mean anything viable for pvp or even veteran pve (most probably).

Initially I looked at blood moon and hundings rage. You can get up to around 10k or so without major brutality just clicking - honestly not bad.

But then I started thinking, I’m probably going about this the wrong way. I should actually be looking at proc sets and that will probably translate into higher DPS.

So what do you guys think? The new western skyrim venomous set plus what else? I’m thinking poisons and bleeds as that will be significantly improved by the CPs? Which monster head?

    What class are you using?
Because there are other things you might consider outside of sets. For example:
    - Warden Bear will passively attack
    - Sorcerer pets will passively attack

Some sets that might be interesting:
    - Maw of the Infernal
    - Sellistrix
    - Eagle Eye (more crit)
    - Leviathan (more crit)
    - Briarheart
    - Undaunted Unweaver/Infiltrator
    - Morkuldin

It would take farming Hell Ra Citadel but the Poisonous Serpent set sounds like what you are looking for.

I was actually thinking stamina sorc for the added passives that don’t need anything slotted - then tons of fighters guild for weapon power. But if it makes more sense to use proc sets then perhaps fighters guild isn’t the best way to go.

If you want the best damage output to effort ratio, I'd go with magsorc (petsorc) heavy attack build.

The rotation is: activate your monkey, drop your wall of elements, hold down LMB for 3x lightning staff heavy attack, repeat. Pop your damage shield (or the matriarch burst heal) when needed.

With this setup you can easily pull ~15k DPS with easily available craftable/overland sets.
For example Julianos+Necropotence and an offensive monster set. Or use 2pc Assassin's (craftable) if you don't have a monster set.

EDIT: and the added bonus is - all your damage is AoE, unlike with a bow LA setup where it's all single target damage.

I'm running Necropotence, Crafty Alfiqi, and Maw of the Infernal on my pet sorc. I have around 60k Magika and I think around 2400-2600 spell power buffed, maybe more. I throw down wall of lightning, mages wrath, crit surge and heavy attack while my demon is doing his strobing attack. Everything melts so quickly. I've never parsed him, but I'm pretty sure I'm easily doing more than 15K DPS.

I know u want a bow build but magplar or stamplar can access high dps with light attack + jab spamming and proc sets. Why I would recommend it is the constantly high passiv heal u get from jabs.
You don't have to think about any heal under vet content.
So it's realy a 2 button rotation(their Was a vid of it but can't find it anymore)
But beware, u get bored very fast ;D

Even their "average static rotation" is ezy.
    Buff Potion.
Dot1, dot2,dot 3 jab 7 times (replace 1 jab with ultimate when rdy) repeat. 40k dps easily.

Or a werewolf build. That's skill1.skill2.skill3 light attack spam for 10 sec. ^^

Best class for Light Attack only build is Templar. You can get Empower for 6 seconds, pair this with the undaunted sets and proc them. Then spam away.

I have a Stamsorc light attack build. But to make it viable you’ll want to make the character a werewolf. Werewolves increased light attack damage and a bleed.

    Molag kena Monster set
    Blood moon
    Morkuldin/rele/

Unfortunately they recently changed kvatch gladiator, which was the set I used instead of Morkuldin.

Put loads of champion points into the increase light attack damage option.

I think for a pure light attack build, Templars might be the best choice as they have access to Empower, giving 40 % more damage to all light attacks in a 10 sec. period.
I had a build where I could do between 30 and 35k dps (3 mill dummy, self-supplied debuffs only, no potions) using only fire staff light attacks instead of a spammable ability.
However, I did cast other skills such as blazing spear, wall of elements (and maelstrom destro staff on back bar) and various buffs, such as Channeled acceleration.
Maw of the Infernal was one of the best monster sets to use for this.

The reason why I moved away from this build was that noone knows how long it will persist. If ZOS decide to implement the changes to light attacks it might become worthless.
