Discussion around game mechanism, gear system, PVP environment

Firstly , I believe, being a good PVP player, the most critical element as what I can see in the last couple years is quality of your internet. I am kind of avoiding myself in Cyrodill during the weekends, as once I got CC there, it took me 2-3 sec!!!!! to break it. Sometimes when you break and surely it consumes your stamina but you are still stunned. And lot of people complain about the server status and lag issue, please don't complain about it. I would say this issue will be there and it is totally impossible to be fixed.

The reason behind that is the game mechanism. When you cast spell or swing your sword to your enemy, the server will do:
1. measure the distance
2. measure the range if its a swing
3. estimate your enemy's movement, location, even action, like block, roll. Roll is the most difficult one as it create a window period time to knock server, this enemy should dodge all the attack during that period of time
4. your enemy may walk out of your swing range while you do heavy attack, the server needs to find out whether this is a successful attack or not
5. Then, at the last, based on all your damage and your foe's resistance, etc, etc all elements including perks in champion system, your set bonus, all this massive information to finally work out the damage.
6. All above is happening thousands times every sec.

All right, let's compare ESO with WOW. Their server only needs to do:
1. measure the distance
2. make sure your enemy is in front of you
3. do the calculation (even this part is much easier than ESO. In ESO we have dot, magic, poison, disease, weapon damage, etc, and in WOW, only few source of damages and damage reductions)

That's why, players are rarely or maybe never struggle with the server performance in WOW. I have played lots of MMO RPG. I would say WOW have the best PVP environment from this gaming mechanism perspective. In WOW, I remember my lagging was always around 400-500ms and I have no issue with it. In WOW, you select your enemy and then you hit the button which is the skill you choose to use.

GOD like 1VX PVP:

If you have played WOW, you should know that if players having similar gear level and also being quite a while in game, there is definitely no 1VX, even 1V2 is very very difficult. I was playing healer in PVP. I would say, no dps can solo me, definitely NOT possible, NO WAY!!!!

I would expect ESO can follow the original TES gear system. The new Mythic item is very good starting point. Look back what WOW has being developed and changed in the last 18 years, starting with 8 pieces set, then multiple pieces set which could be 2 or 3 or 4 pieces, then they remove the sets, then legendary items appeared. In the previous version, a player can even wear multiple legendary items. Now it's gone. I guess unique single item ability could be the future design as it gives balance and diversity, and easier to make a change as you only need to change item by item, and players just need to pick the item they wanna use, piece by piece.

Balance and diversity are always game developer's most concerns. Taking traits as an example, developer doesn't want to see few type of traits over popular rather than others. They would do some nerf or buff to balance them, but they also feel difficulty to find out the solution. As what can see now, lots of traits are kind of useless, people never use, lots of champion points are meaningless, we never click on it. To balance these elements is hard!!! Redesign to Push or Force players to choose other traits can be a disaster. A simplify or combined mechanism may work better. Maybe one day in the future, ZOS will remove sets, remove traits, remove lots of things, only keep enchantment and mythic items.

Please be with me, here I am not saying which game is better, both are the best MMO in my view, and in the end, thanks for your reading, happy to discuss and plz forgive my english.

Yes and no... I am playing both, but I am spending longer time on ESO as it looks much better, visually. But the reality is, everytime after you experienced all the laggy, clunky, bumpy, stumble things in ESO, and then you go back to WOW and find out everything is so...... so smooth in terms of your action, movement and fight.
