Greymoor soundtrack?

Does anyone know if there's going to be a soundtrack for Greymoor yet?

I think the music composed for Greymoor has some very interesting musical beats and hits. It does not, for the most part, sound like traditional zone music. It sounds, to my ear at least, that the music was created more for the aesthetic of the story as opposed to the world's surroundings of Western Skyrim and Blackreach?

I say this as usually the music created for new zones sounds as though it was created for the zone in mind specifically, like the whimsical strings and lighter melodies of Summerset, the almost melancholy overtones of the music of Clockwork City interspersed with sharp, harsher notes and tones or the grand choir stuff of Elsweyr with an almost middle eastern twang in parts as well as various other influences present.

I'd be really keen to hear what the influences and inspirations were for Greymoor's Western Skyrim and Blackreach. You would slightly expect, for Western Skyrim at least, to hear nord choir like at the end of the trailer where we saw we were going to Skyrim this year, or maybe even notes of the original Skyrim soundtrack, but it pulled away from this completely to give it an almost "movie" feel in terms of music crafted to drive the plot as opposed to fit the zone's aesthetic.

What does everyone else think of the soundtrack? I hope there's going to be one. I like the music very much, even if it strikes me as odd at times when I wander around the zone.

I like the soundtrack as it is fitting to the dark horror mood of this chapter. All in all, I think that most of the music tracks for the new chapters have beauty in their very different ways. As to the Nord chorus...perhaps yes (to appear for little moments), but remember that a chorus like that gives a feeling of unity and the Nords in this chapter don't seem to be in harmony much!

The soundtrack 100% fits with the theme. However, I was hoping for some more Ambience type music.

It's still a great soundtrack, but not the best for just wandering around. Still a great soundtrack.

For me some of the new "dark" music does not work well with Solitude and Western Skyrim in general. Maybe it works fine in Blackreach, certainly it's great for the Greymoor castle, but other than that, it just strikes me as odd. I have finished the main story, and to me it's not that gothic or dark like it was advertised. I found the story in Deshaan darker than Greymoor's, and usually the war crimes done by all alliances during the story quests are more sinister than what goes on in Skyrim overall. This music fits well with a vampire theme where the vampires are subtle and elusive, which is not the case in Blackreach/Skyrim. Here the vampires are very aggressive or feral (harrowfiends). A rock soundtrack would fit these vampires much better :)
Usually I don't have anything against the soundtrack, except for a few dark tracks that play when I am in my Solitude house, and the theme just does not resonate (my char is not a vampire). I miss the Solitude track by Jeremy and Julian Soule...

Necroing this thread because I think there's a lot of relevant points here. I wish more people were discussing the soundtrack. The dark theme is interesting I agree, however, for overworld exploring, it does not fit at all. It's tiring to have the ominous music playing in the background while exploring beautiful places around Western Skyrim, especially when I've defeated the main threat. The storied approach to music as mentioned by OP is interesting. But if you use that approach, then it has to progress with the story, I believe.

Since Elsweyr, I've been a bit concerned about where the music is heading. Gaps are being left open and it's quite jarring. With Elsweyr, there was no new battle music or dragon fighting themes. This is the same with Greymoor. There is again, no new battle music, or a unique Harrowstorm theme. This is despite the main theme of Greymoor having sections which could be adapted into some combat themes. It's now been 2 years since we've got new battle music.

Another gap that has been left open, is Solitude's music. It's a little bit frustrating to me that the music is that of past zones. Why couldn't Solitude get its own music? A similar thing happened with Northern and Southern Elsweyr. The two different zones with two differing cultures got the same music. I believe that was an oversight. I fear the same thing may happen with the next zone.

I love ESO's music and the stuff we get is great. But in all my years of playing, it's only been within the past 2 years that I've actually had to turn the music off and supplement it myself. Target areas I believe are needed: more battle music, more ambient tracks.

*sees the announcements on the login screen:
"Experience the sounds of Skyrim with the official Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Soundtrack, now available online from select digital stores!"*

*checks Google Play, iTunes, Amazon. no where to be seen in those stores.*

    Okay, where is it?

Joking aside, base from the announcements the soundtrack soon to be going live/release.

Main is Blue-Thuxis, a Argonian stamSorc, whose also is a werewolf! 2nd main, Cobalt-Thuxis, a Argonian stamArc, an identical twin sister to Blue-Thuxis, even is a werewolf as well! some alts:
Nirn-Scale Rajthux (Argonian, Templar), Ros-Ei Nature-Thuxis (Argonian, Warden), Crimson-Thuxis (Argonian, DK), Bone-Thuxis Tharn (Argonian, Necro) Why Bone-Thuxis has Tharn as a last name:
The siblings were separated at a young age due to a Dres slaver raid, Blue, Cobalt, Ros-Ei & their mother were able to escape, Crimson & Bone weren't that lucky. Crimson was later "rescued" by some Orcs that later ambushed the House Dres Dunmers, unfortunately one Dunmer remained & sadly successfully brought the young Bone-Thuxis to the Dres plantation. Later an Imperial, a Tharn, bought Bone at a auction & later told he was free, the young Argonian sadly had no idea where to go & doesn't know if his family was still alive, so the Tharn adopted him into House Tharn. This family of Argonians finally reunited years later.
, Kenneth Clyde (Nord, Sorc), Selene Gray-Thuxis (Argonian, Nightblade), Urmanda (Orc, Warden)
Some ESO history: I originally started from PS4 NA during June 10, 2015, I did reached CP 810+ on there. I eventually kinda got tired of paying PS+, so during February 4, 2019 I started moving to PC NA. Also CP: 810+. Nowadays I play ESO PC mostly, while PS4 is dust.

I wonder how greymoor would sound if Danny Elfman did the music for it?

Edit: Danny Elfman does the scores for just about every dark Tim Burton movie

I appreciate some are enjoying the soundtrack but this will be one I'll be skipping. Sure, its okay atmospheric music in general but fails totally in making me want to engage with this setting. Like so many, I did what I wanted and left for other areas to waste my time in. The main theme has to be the worse as its more akin to entering a dark cave sound wise in a monster of the week Netflix horror spoof. Not at all making me feel I'm about to enter a world where evil has taken root. And completely mismatched with a story that is so juvenile that I'm embarrassed for the writers of it. I'll go through it again later just to make sure but so far this is a hard pass. The best piece remains the music for the harrowstorms which isn't even original to this soundtrack. Shortcomings across the board from story to music shows this wasn't accidental but actually plan feels me with much sadness that ZOS couldn't see what they were putting out. At least that's my hope they couldn't see it and didn't take these steps with purpose. There's always next year to improve. Such a letdown.
