Is container RNG determined when you open a container or when you enter an an area?

✭✭✭✭✭It's determined when you open it. You can see this due to the cooldown on many recipes (5 minutes on green). You can loot a container then wait 5 minutes and the one right next to it can potentially have another green recipe. You can't account for that if the loot for any given area is all pregenerated.0 -

I dont know what that item was for them but for me it was a Bouyant armiger motif.

✭✭✭✭✭Containers such as barrels and crates are individual for the player. You can see someone loot a crate and still be able to loot it yourself.
I think they fill when you enter the area. I say that but it has been years since I did anything where I would have noticed.0 -

Common behaviour of unsocial players. Opening chest/thieves trove, taking valuables and leaving empty soul gem and lockpick. Or picking columbine from node, leaving crawlers. In both cases respawn time is prolonged...1 -

Oh I totally agree, its disgusting behavior and I usually just empty the damn chest so it respawns and silently curse whomever did it under my breath. However there was that one time it gave me a really nice drop out of 100s of times.Beta tester November 20130
