Any crafted sets that perform similarly to Mothers sorrow?

I have multiple toons to gear up and dont have the gold to shell out for mothers sorrow staves and jewelry.

Are there any sets i can craft or are more easily obtained that perform comparably?

I thought about running twiceborn star or new moon. But didnt know how well twiceborn will work when losing bonus on back bar. And am not a fan of the extra cost on new moon.

Preferably if you can offer what the dps difference looks like that would be helpful as well.

I guess you already use julianos? If not thats the best to use.

TBS used to be meta, but is outdated and no one really uses it any more.

Juli + New Moon is probably the best mag combo you're gonna get from purely crafted gear. This would likely perform pretty close to a "meta" trial gear setup if you perform your rotations correctly & can sustain with that NM cost increase which you did say would be a concern

You could also farm for MS yourself if gold is the limiting factor.

I am pretty sure that once you lose the Twice Born Star bonus, it is gone until you go back to the mundus stone. It does not remember what your second mundus is. Once you drop to less than 5 pieces of TBS, the second mundus buff is gone. So you need TBS as body pieces or body pieces + jewelry. You cannot bar swap and expect it to come and go.

Thing is that you need a lot of stat which applies to both bars when you are on front bar. So NMA is not good, because your back bar aoe dots won't benefit from it.
Maybe Mechanical acuity will do? I remember there were builds with it and solid dps parses, before Siroria and False god came to scene.

Don't run twice born start on front bar unless you want to teleport to a mundus stone every time that you bar swap. Twice born start is not very good these days.

Julianos isn't that far behind mother's sorrow until you get up to the top end of dps.

New moon acolyte is stronger than julianos but you will have less sustain. Basically equal to mother's sorrow for dps but it has the 5% stustain penalty for skills and ultimates. Good for front bar so that the expensive back bar dots don't suffer from the cost increase.

Mechanical acuity is absolutely great for burst damage. Less good for long duration fights without burst phases. Needs to be on front bar or it will proc at the wrong time.

That depends on the dot. Generally, ground dots update their stats after bar swap while "sticky" single target dots do not. There are exceptions but it's easy to test.

For my magblade, wall of elements, twisting path and mystic orb all update their damage after a bar swap. Crippling grasp, degeneration and consuming trap do not update and continue to use the back bar stats. How important this is depends on the build and bar setup.

Wow, thanks for the insight! I was using MS on frontbar like forever and even didn't even had idea that spell damage will be updated on aoe dots.
It is amazing how every day we can learn something new :)

Well i have 3 full trial sets available that im giving these toons, its just the mutiple copies of mothers sorrow slowing me down.

Ill try mechanical acuity. Im not a huge fan of how it works but if thats the best bet ill run with that.

Any other sets that will work well? Juli didnt do what i was hoping from it.

Did not know this. I thought all dots updated. I keep my single target on front bar anyway but its always good to know.

Mechanical Acuity is the closest Craftable set you can get towards Mothers Sorrow in terms of Critratio sets.
However the More Critchance you alread yhave, the weaker Acuity gets.

Julianos is easy to craft and only very slightly less effective spell power.
