Concerning the introduction of new “perfected” items in the future.....

Hello everyone. For those who are not aware, I’ll try to bring you up to speed on this critical turning point in ESO’s history as an MMO.

In update 26, “Greymoor,” items that were previously only attainable in veteran arenas will now have to be re-aquired to gain their updated veteran version.

This is a concern due to the fact that it sets a precedent of tacking on “perfected” onto old content to make players need to redo old, subjectively boring content to aquire the better version of it despite the fact that they already own the veteran versions of the item.

With this patch, ZOS, for whatever reasons, be them noble, ignorant, or greedy, are dead set on encouraging old players to replay old content for the new perfected versions. Ok. The players will likely bite the bullet and increase their playtime hours. This time.

I will personally let this one slide, but if they start forcing min-max players to refarm old content for the sake of creating something new to farm, then we as the players need to make our voices heard.

I’ve been playing this game since beta, but if ESO loses its biggest advantage over other competing MMOs by becoming a quarterly grind fest, then I’m out. I have no interest in needing to aquire the same gear when it comes out, then again when they release its perfected version.

What are YOUR thoughts on this matter as members of this wonderful community?

EDITED for typos.

What really bothers me, more than grinding, is the release of must have weapons.
Next patch my magicka warden will have to farm the master staff in order to be competitive in PvP. I always try to stay away from the meta, but that 600 spell damage is just too good to ignore and would put me at a great disadvantage if i did. RIP build diversity i guess...

I'm okay with it. I go back to Maelstrom Arena every once in a while as a break from whatever else in the game I might be doing. If I get a good weapon cool. If not, doesn't matter, will not change the way I play.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I agree with this. "Must have" items shouldn't be THAT much better. They should be the last thing needed to get that last bit of performance for min/maxers.

To have hard to get items that seriously out perform the rest, well, that has significant implications for PvP. And i'm not much for grinding PvE as it is, let alone hours spent farming vMA

Doesn't really affect me, currently, as I don't use the one skill the bow improves, anyway.

You're supposed to use it, but I don't even like ground targeted AOE in games where I don't have to move my char and my camera separately, let alone in a game where I do.

...and I'm not supposed to be a mage, anyway.

However, I am against this move on principle.

I don't think ESO is strong enough as a game, in regards to both endgame and combat (not to mention certain other things), to start down this kind of grindy path.

Most people don't seem to bother with endgame, here, anyway and definitely won't if it becomes harder to enter.

They could easily mitigate half of the complaints doing their job with performance and not mindlessly nerfing stuff left and right be it bloodspawn "adjustment" or vAS inferno (which is completely useless now) where they put no thoughts in.

I would be fine redoing vma if bonuses mattered (they're not currently), bugs were fixed (all stages, everyone knows that) and we had decent enough performance to be able to do it without disconnect rng and bad instances in SOLO content. Now vma performs worse than year ago on event days which is telling.

That is for the normal one perfected is 100 spell damage more.

And I think this is an one off to conform to the new standard with trials and arenas having standard and perfected.
They might make the Asylum weapons drop on vet and not only +3, this will not require any changes to weapons.
Kind of doubt they add perfected gear to the Craglorn trials.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

They need to stop flexing and simply Player.AddItem < 00013998> problem solved.
disclaimer: not saying its the actual code but there is an item code for everything.

I would actually Run VMA to get the VMA weapons i currently don’t have, but due to the fact that MA is buggy i find it hard as well to even deal with again.

Fact is they will go about it and not listen to their customers. People have been wanting things to be fixed, its all been nerfing here and there. And don’t come at me with “they have it in their to do list”, because a game that is performing worst every year does not give any indication that there is a focus in performance. Remember that time they denied that group finder was broken? Remember that old thread about the oceanic lag? I remember playing with french players on DSA because they had to start a new game on NA since EU was unbearable.

Also there is a huge problem with players that know the value of the money they pay for a service and then there are players that just throw money at them. These players take whatever criticism that is made about the game or the changes that are really not fair, too personal. These players are the ones that don’t help because the pre orders are sold and every single other collector item but then are the same players that tell you that they don’t bother with the “end game” or “pvp” everyone else who also buys the chapters but is critical about what they purchase and critical about service, ends up in the “entitlement bin” Notice how most of the complaining here is from “i did VMA”. and it gets mostly replies from the “i don’t bother with” people.

Requesting what is fair and requesting performance form a live service is not entitlement.

The players who buy chapters and do bother with End game veteran content and PVP are requesting both as clients.

Same here. I'll do the content if I want to experience it again. I've been doing just fine with normal weapons and feel no incentive to grind for anything with a "Perfected" tag on it.

All things considered though, a pretty lame attitude toward veteran players. Speaks volumes about the character of the people who work in this company.

If you want to see less of this kind of thing, you should not let it slide the first time around to start with. You should never let it slide.
All the notions of being "the bigger person" and "taking it on the chin" and all that, completely useless. You don't have to swallow anything you don't want to.

I’m only letting this one slide because ZOS has chosen their usual “silent” treatment towards their community regarding this topic. I’m just tired of our complaints falling on deaf ears. I’m just stating for the record that if they do anything like this again, where I have to refarm gear that I already earned for no other reason than for the sake of forcing players to refarm, the game will be dead in my eyes.

Doesn't matter what you all do as you are end game players. You already know how much of a mess this game is in,your money already spent. If you are still playing this atrocious game at this point its on you.The Perfected bs won't be the last either. And you can leave..as a end game player..its not really gonna make a difference to them. or their shareholders. There will be 10 more new people who don't know of the mess that is ESO who will join, and pay for the dlcs and the crown store junk.

In the end,It doesn't matter if you accept these changes or not.The new Customer won't care.

No voice will be heard, it doesn't matter to the company what your thoughts are on forums. Want to make an impact ? There's only one way, cancel eso+ sub when they make the game unenjoyable. Money and only money talks, not anyone's voice.

You're assuming those stats won't be nerfed at a rather recent date. Thus, I personally won't be farming such items. And honestly in PvP...most won't have a vMA perfected, and if I run across somebody who does...oh well. Avoid, and go somewhere else or group and run him into the ground. :D
