Lets re-skin something, call it new, and figure out an easy way to increase the player grind with minimal creative effort. Sound familiar?

I doubt many here actually want the new weapon handed to them, I for one do not.

I felt this was a very lazy implementation of something that would be good for newer players. Have nMA and vMA drop the normal set, and put a little work in to make a hardmode for vMA to get the new perfected version. I doubt most people would complain about that, plus it gives those of us who have done vMA hundreds of times something new and interesting, even if it’s just recycling new content.
I guess that's true. I would have had no problem with widening the tier that can earn arena weapons and creating a new hard tier for perfected. That's the way AS works, and it works well enough.

That scenario does make me realize that my core problem with the changes isn't about invalidating my past effort, though, despite my prior argument to that effect. I see the holes in that argument now.

My core problem I guess is really just the complete replacement of a tier. It seems like an unnecessarily heavy-handed refactoring of expectations with no purpose other than as a time sink, exactly like the loathed VR16 gear cap increase.

I see that as the same argument. One is a consequence of the other.

Just be happy you don't have to farm vma for a MAYBE a weapon drops, dw would drop 1pc of the 2pc set, etc.

The grind is significantly less than it used to be, is all I'm saying.

It's not that crazy to think they would want people to have to re-visit content.

A bit of an inconvenience, but nothing really out of the ordinary from a game company.

I have to farm all of that content again now, sure, but I am already looking forward to grinding the old content for perfected master weapons as well, so once again, not that insane to think to revitalize content being consumed by dangling nice rewards on the other end of that grind.

It's kinda game development 101. Smart.

    Let's grind!

I'm just not buying any of their new content if they're making me redo the old content

That's entirely my point. Yes, both scenarios invalidate past effort. But I'm fine with the AS structure and not fine with the way they handled vMA / vDSA. Therefore, invalidation of past effort is not what is bothering me.

Introducing a new tier of weapons with a new higher threshold is fine for me. Shifting the threshold for my current tier down and replacing it with the new tier for the same accomplishments is not.

    Hey all,

We recognize that this was a sensitive topic during the PTS, as we did read all of your feedback. We should have offered you a more official answer on our stance, and we do apologize for failing to do so. That's on us.

The stance that Rich stated is accurate: we want all players to earn the new Perfected Master Maelstrom Weapons through gameplay, regardless of their previous progress.

We are closing this thread now, as it has devolved into bashing. It's okay to not like or disagree with our decision - please remember that even then, we do expect everyone to remain constructive and respectful while on our forums at all times.
