ESO Launcher Download Speed: Why is mine so low?

I have a 20Mbps download package and with web speed tests I get 14.5 to 16 Mbps and 12 to 15ms ping.

The launcher is set to unlimited download speed in its settings.

The max launcher download speed I see is 1.71MB/s.

Is there some other setting I need to adjust to get a faster download for ESO?

the launcher shows you megabyte per second, 1.71MB/s is a bit below 14 megabit per second - so you basically get what you have tested yourself.

Pretty sure you're downloading at the same time as a bunch of other people who don't bother to leave their launcher running during the maintenance...

So, that might have something to do with it...

Same here. I have Google Fiber, so my download speed should be a lot faster. I'm at 1.01 MB/s currently.

I bought Fallout 76 last week, and it was at this same slow speed - never faster than 2 MB/s. Is Bethesda throttling this?

I've never had an issue with this before.

I am sure that someone has the ability to put bandwidth caps on the CDN, but if they use that, it has been in place for a long time. Sometimes, I download fast. Other times, I download slow.

I was downloading at 12 MB/s from 5am to 6am ET, today. That was the download speed reported by the launcher. The patch merge "speed" was considerably faster.

Odd, mine downloaded quite quickly, I didn't time it but was 15-20 minutes or thereabouts.

So strange! At this rate, I'm looking at 70 minutes download time. I certainly don't expect the 986 MB/s download speed I usually get (and Speedtest tells me I have available right now). But there should be a happy medium between 986 and 1!

I am sure you know this, but your download speed is influenced more by the speed of the CDN and the internet path between you and the CDN than it is by your local ISP. Even if you can get 1000 Mb/s (~100MB/sec) from Google, not everyone on the internet is obligated to honor that speed.

I would imagine that, today, the CDN is very busy.

In the old days, the suggestion was to pause the download, wait about 10 seconds, then restart it. Sometimes, that kicked it in the pants when it got real slow. That was a few launcher versions ago, and I have not used (or seen) that recommendation for a long long time. Worth a try. The worst that could happen is that it takes 10 seconds longer to download the patch.

basically same despite that my speed is 100MB/s when i look my router from my PC (from connection speed) no idea what limits it sins in launcher the settings say unlimited it should be 100MB/s well it should be 90 at-least sins maybe pc itself uses some of it to

haven't played for years started updating yesterday, but the 20GB download would go much faster if it used my full speed not 1,20MB/s speed witch its currently downloading with

It's your internet. 20 megaBITS = ~2 megaBYTES.
