returning MAG DK
I'm lost in all the information around the new expansion. I hear MAG DK is currently top dps but this will change when greymoor comes? Why is this? I don't see any big changes to this class?!
I'm just hoping my mag DK is still a viable and wanted dps class as I intend to get back into this game.
Can anyone please enlighten me on this topic?

✭✭The gist of it is that magdk is getting carried by the perfected asylum staff that is bugged on live. Next patch that bug will be fixed AND the asylum staff will be nerfed into decon material so magdk goes down with it. Magdk will still be usable I suppose but it wont be top anymore and probably among the lower mag dps and dps in General.Politeness is respecting others.

✭✭✭✭✭Yeah, man, you are late to the party. With all the vampire cleansing + nerf to Elf Bane + nerf to AS inferno staff, magDK will be on bottom next patch both PVP and PVE ><1 -
Thanks for the replies. I'm shocked that a class can just go from absolute top (as I read it) to bottom.
This cant be intended right? Such a big change to a viability of a setup feels like an oversight in balance work.

That's how this game has been for a while. Sometimes you're the best, sometimes the worst. I still miss the old stone giant skill since it made long range magDK's possible since it was a 28 meter stun, but nowadays we're encouraged to fight in melee exclusively.PC NA - Ceyanna Ashton - Breton Vampire MagDK0 -

✭✭I mean I have been using Silks of the Sun and BSW for years now. I never changed to any of meta builds (Elf bane Zaan or trying to some how to sustain force pulse), its fine if you aren't trying to break world records.
Next patch you lose the sustain granted from Vamp currently, I intend to curse my vamp. I am not sure how much it will matter but I suspect it will considering how MagDk sustain can be line ball so often.0 -

I've mained MagDK for a long time and can complete all content in the game, before elf bane + asylum, and will definitely play it next patch too. So it's not like you can't use it. But people like to exaggerate how good and bad classes are, in the end it comes down to personal skill.
And MagDK is great in PvP, I don't get why people say it's "on the bottom" but that's probably also a l2p issue.EU PC1 -

Well because theyre magicka first and foremost and only magsorc can compete with stambois in openworld. Mag Dks are great in duels and battlegrounds tho.0 -

I would not say MagDK is "great" in PvP in it's current state based on where it's been historically. The cost increase creep through each patch requires adjustment which impacts damage output in favor of resource management. Sacrafices must be made which is slowly diminishing the class (endangered species). Even MagDK streamers admit to this -shout out to Pain and Nirn.
MagDK weakness is ultimately resources and if you can overcome that with success, then its "Great".0 -

My original character (and GO PvP) is a stam DK. I recently made an MDK and love it-- PvP only. Nothing special in the build just a fire build.4 GOs, and General, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP over the last 8 years0
