While I personally am I excited for the expansion, i'm extremely concerned that Zenimax Online and/or Bethesda have no current plan to restore functionality and correct the ever growing latency issue developing in Cyrodiil.

In the past I would queue up with my guild and friends for Battlegrounds to avoid this issue, but with that gone, really the only way we can PvP together is in Cyrodiil, and oh my goodness, the state of Cyrodiil is absolutely horrendous.... Point is, i'm very concerned that this expansion is going to launch on Tuesday with no real fix or even an attempt at it.

Why is this even an issue or a problem you may ask? Well a lot of people i've talked to have said this chapter is their proverbial "last straw", and if it isn't addressed then they will just quit. Also think about it, as new players pick this expansion/game up the second they try to queue up with their friends for a battlegrounds or queue up for Cyrodiil and they discover how bad it is, do you think they will be happy?

I honestly feel like this type of experience is going to cause a whole lot of negative public relations for this game and company to the point where they might not be able to make it back from this. Sure, this game will survive in a sense for the niche community, and that's fine if that's all you want, as for me, I enjoy the combat, build diversity, and overall feel of the game and would love to see it succeed and do well.

I guess we won't know until next Tuesday, best of luck to the PvP community.

Per the most recent performance improvement update, they have fixes for at least some of this abysmal input lag in their internal development environment that were supposed to be included in the PTS. But as far as I’m aware, nothing further was mentioned as to whether it was actually included in the most recent PTS update or whether it is still on track to be included in the live build of Update 26.

yikes, that is concerning, if they are under impression that the servers are holding up well and that it has improved over the last year they are in for a terrible surprise :(

The link is to the oldest active thread in the game. I just point it out in case you would like a forum name other than what looks like your real life name.

As for the performance improvement plan that was linked, I am pretty sure that is the end of a plan Zos started working on last year. I do not think it is the end of them trying to improve performance overall as it has been something they try to do constantly though we really have not seen much success.

I do not expect any major improvements for performance, just hope, it will not deteriorate more. Also, I cured most of my vampires, including my main vamp healer, that was vamp for over 5 years as preparation for new skill line. Farmed sets to be just as stealthy, and without movement penalty, so I am all set. I bought cheapest version of Greymoore, will probably have atleast 2 weeks of fun after launch.

The PTS is performing just as bad as live or even worse and there are barely any players even on it. These performace updates are already supposed to be applied to the PTS so your concern is very justified. When the game launches with the Greymoor the performance is going to be just as bad or even worse then it is right now. Trials are barely playable and cyrodiil not playable at all.

The animation canceling change made the lagg 10x worse, but ZOS is refusing to realize this and won't revert it, they steam on with plans to fix it later, but we all know what that means, its here to stay. Sadly.

The real problem is that if the skill latency gets fixed, everyone will focus on this and be happy but the hard reality is that we'll just get back to the same situation than a few monthes ago, with standard lag in Cyrodiil as soon as it gets triple locked.

And this will never be fixed. It has been the main ESO PvP problem since the lightning patch years ago and was never fixed.

I remember cyro before zos changed stuff and made it worse. Fun times.

Think a lot pvp players will change the game in August.

Pve players will change when the game with the ring is released in maybe 4 years.

Good thing about that is performance will increase the less players are there.
Sad to say this for an mmo.

So far not a single reply with any good news to look forward to, this makes me hopelessly sad. :(

As much as I like ESO and I truly do, I believe this game does need some bad publicity. All I ever read about ESO from gaming media is how good it is, maybe the best MMO on the market right now. At heart this statement may be true. It is still highly subjective if you like the game or not though.
On the surface everythings seems great. A journalist probably plays through some quests, does some crafting, plays some low level dungeons etc. and there is nothing wrong with it. They don't have unlimited time to write an article and can just offer a broad overview to catch the interest of players.
But it is the endgame activities like PvP, vet Dungeons, or Raids that are having these massive problems. So if I were a interested player I would think I am about to play the total package. And for many, many players that remains true. The majority of players don't take part in endgame content and I know, endgame is what you make of it. It can be housing, questing, fishing, you name it. And in these parts of the game you don't have huge problems, everything runs rather smooth.
And here lies the big problem. If the media doesn't touch on the massive problems of the endgame like PvP, raids and dungeons, ZOS will always think "Hey, we are always getting good ratings from the media, so everthing is fine. We are doing a great job". If some reviews woud finally dig deeper into the game and highlight its problems, maybe ZOS would understand that it is not acceptable to leave your game in a catastrophic state for months.
ESO needs a steady influx of players. That's how money comes in. These new players don't know about the flaws yet. Milk them while you can.
ZOS really needs a wake up call to get their act together. They don't listen to the communities feedback, they have their "vision" for the game and won't stray from that path but maybe if they get enough criticism from outside sources, they will see that they should do something about how they handle their game.

For years many of my friends have quit due to performance. I've had hope throughout the years, as stated by you, this game offers a great combat system and diversity with it and also I hope it will succeed. The first big thing we heard was the performance roadmap as a shed of hope that if might finally be a time in which the game went into a better direction for PvP, but instead it actually got worse...

What bothers me the most is that despite the few words about it, it's very vague and general. PvP is not a target, their performance is based towards PvE and consoles. For me it's the same, if Greymoor doesn't make the game better, it's done.

If rumors are correct ZOS is moving more and more game-mechanics towards the server instead of on the client itself. I think this is the biggest mistake ever especially during Covid-19 were the server is already super stressed.

The hard truth here is that ESO is a business, and as such, it's fundamental goal is to be profitable. Now think about where the real profit lies...and that is where you'll find ZOS's true interest. As much as we combat lovers like to think our experiences are important and have a meaningful impact on what ZOS management does, we don't. Our numbers pale in comparison to those who come for housing, furnishings, motifs, etc., and just plain socializing...activities that require no precise client/server synchronization and no performance plan. Every Cyrodiil player could cancel their sub today and ZOS's profit would barely register a blurp. Couple this with great marketing that brings in a constant deluge of new players willing to spend money and you have the recipe for the performance lip service and re-skinned content we've been getting for years. This also licenses combat developers to pursue unpopular changes for whatever bizarre fancy that enters their mind. As long as revenue is on the upswing, our protests hold little regard in the profit scheme of things.

In other words, don't expect anything regarding performance to change. So either eat the baloney...or find another source of nourishment.

I've seen many adverts for the next 'patch', whether it be on Facebook or the discord bot (Greymoor this and that)...

ANNOUNCE YOUR AMAZING AND ANTICIPATED PERFORMANCE FIXES TOO as they are the priority. We've been on you guys for a long time for help, Zos.
