Which is actually a good idea, because a lot of members read the General ESO Discussion but seldom if ever glance at any of the other subforums to see if there are any interesting threads to read.

Not really.

A. It's not going to get much attention if you don't link to what you wrote, as Souterain pointed out.
B. This advertisement thread has little content and is unlikely to remain constructive, so it'll either disappear into General Discussion without much fuss or the mods will close it.
C. It's a second, pointless post for anyone who uses Recent Discussions to keep an eye on all the subforums.

My preferred method when I write my event guides is to post them in General Discussion and figure that the mods will either move them to Player Guides or they won't. If I really want it in Guides after a while, it's easy to message a mod and ask that it be moved.
