I can't have fun playing this game.

It never works, morning, evening, mid-day, night, skills don't go off, bars swap at unexpected times, and it doesn't feel like I'm playing a game. It feels like I'm ramming my head into a wall.

FIX THE GAME.

Delete, install other games, have fun.

Come back after a while, reinstall from scratch, realize this game still sucks, check performance updates calendar, come back after that's done.

    There.

While I do think that ZOS needs to fix this stuff, I'm also going to point out that it's very unhealthy to keep playing a game that you don't find fun. Stop playing, play something else. If patches fix your issues, come back. If not, don't.

I've picked up DOOM 2016, DOOM: Eternal and Dark Souls instead of re-subbing (2 of which are still bethesda so it's not like they actually care), but it's hard to leave this game with years of experience just when I was getting truly skilled and wealthy. I just need to stop worrying about it and take the "loss" and move on. DOOM is *** gorgeous compared to this game and is so responsive, smooth, and intense. Even a game from 3 years before this remastered looks better than this hot garbage that has been worked on for 6 years straight, o and it caps at 60fps and is smoother than this.
    Can I have your stuff?

No I have an uneaten Mythic Aetherial Ambrosia recipe that is going to rot. Don't play this game.

Yeah, you've got some sunk cost fallacy going on there. IE you feel obligated to keep going, otherwise the time you've already spent will be "wasted". It sounds like you've basically figured that out though, just need to commit.

Either way, I wish you luck dude. Games are meant to be fun. There's lots of fun to be had in ESO, but if you aren't finding it anymore, perhaps it's time to move on. Maybe come back later(I was absent for close to 2 years up until 3 weeks ago), maybe not.

I hope they fix the issues soon. With Shadowlands looking halfway decent and Baldurs Gate 3 coming, they are going to have a lot of competition, and people aren't going to stick with a game they struggle to even play...

I fully intend on play BG3 of course, but Shadowlands is only somewhat tempting me because of the current issues. It's really frustrating trying to learn to heal and doing my first dungeons and wanting to gear up for vet dungeons for the first time, and having skills not working or constant glitches where my magicka skills are suddenly using my tiny stam pool...

    FIX THE GAME.

    Dear Prodigal Son,

It appears the time has come to return to that fabled, mythical land which is east of Narnia and west of Wakanda aka the Motherland aka Skyrim single player game. :)

Journey home with your stalwart allies using the Skyrim Together mod. Install this and you'll be off playing with your friends in a STABLE, non laggy game world with the majority of the issues you state being marginalized. And the best part is you get to customize 100% of your game world. All the fauna, flora, and people (both human and NPC) you could ever dream of hunting, harvesting, socializing with, and/or killing (or having romantic relationships with). Finally settle down, get married and have a Brady Bunch homestead of kids. Or remain the single bachelor/bachelorette while adventuring with your friends. With your friends, become a prominent, upstanding citizen of the realm as Thane of all the holds---or a rogue murder hobo vagrant. Be the mightiest land owner and own the best mansions/homes in the province. Or be a homeless vagabond. Be as OP as you want as a Mage/Battlemage PC build. Or charge head on as an undaunted warrior tank. Or sneak thief your way in the world. Or combination of all these. The choice is exclusively yours....

But just be sure to send a txt file copy of your mod deck to every player on your friends list who you want to invite in your lobby. This will insure they all have the same exact mods installed in the identical mod list order. Otherwise, you'll appear in your underwear...

@KyleTheYounger I have heard of this mod, but unfortunately Skyrim is super played-out for me, my last experience with it I decided to do a full no-mod, no legendary skills, legendary difficulty play through, crushed the game and reached level 81, then leveled up enough to see legendary dragons, which I literally 3 shot. In a couple years after this mod catches on more i can see myself returning, but after doing each of the main quests no less than 5 times a piece, with 2x of those being 100% completion of side quests etc. skyrim seems like a much smaller game.

RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE MY FRIENDS. RIP. AND. TEAR!

This is EXACTLY my point. You insist on playing a vanilla Skyrim AND the vanilla MQ of the 2011 game. And you also insisted on using an OP DG crossbow or ancient relic weapon to 1-2 shot NPC enemies in the process. Which leads to a predictably boring experience because your PC is 1000% OP. If you used challenging difficulty mods the likes of Skyrim Hell Edition (which puts all hostile animal/NPC human AI on steroids in wilderness/dungeon areas). Or realism combat/gear mods that alter combat fight mechanics and/or added wear and tear of your PC armor. Or mods that added the challenge of environmental exposure to elements/weather and basic survival (with hunger/thirst/health/hygiene needs) then your experience would've been 100% different. But you insisted on sticking to old habits in playing a predictably boring, vanilla game. With a predictably boring, OP god mode PC build.....

The reason why Skyrim is STILL in top 30 of Steam 100 to date is because ppl

DON'T play the vanilla 2011 game i.e DO NOT PLAY THE MQ. So you DON'T ever have to encounter dragons (or at least the MQ scripted ones) in your game. Randomly non MQ dragons occur infrequently in the vanilla game (unless you insist on adding some sort of a dragon mod).

And while you need to officially initialize the DB DLC if you have this DLC installed (which occurs once you slay the first scripted Aedric dragon Mirmulnir outside Whiterun) you DO NOT need to proceed with playing this DLC quest line. Same for the DG quest line. DON'T investigate the starter quest. Which btw, requires you to literally visit the leader of the DG at the edges of the map. So the odds of using OP weapons like the DG DLC crossbow and OP Auriel's Bow in combat situations are no longer possible.

Basically, once you've initialized the game (by visiting the Thane of Whiterun the first time and/or slaying Mirmulnir above) you're free to go off and do whatever the heck you want. Interested in pursuing the base game Civil War side quest? Download WARZONES - Civil Unrest for SSE.

Basically how Bethesda should've released the base game and its major faction side quests (likes of Civil War, Dark Brotherhood/Mages/Thieves Guilds). As highly challenging and interactive experiences high on steroids.....
Make adventuring in Skyrim an innovative sandbox challenge tailored to YOUR liking. Transform the original 2011 game using mods (that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the MQ) which add professional level DLC and real world spaces.

playing professionally developed world space mods the likes of Beyond Bruma series and Falskaar. You haven't even begun to scratch the surface on appreciating Skyrim's potential as province until you explore these adjacent lore friendly world spaces.

using highly practical utility mods the likes of Arthmoor's Live Another Life (LAL) Which bypasses the long hay ride into Helgen and lets you start the game with a variety of backstories. Want to begin a new career and life as an aspiring museum collector? A humble farmer? A professional thief or assassin? An upstanding property holder? Be who you want with LAL

playing lore friendly world space & quest mods the likes of Moonpath to Elsweyr and Wyrmstooth.

Immersive expansion city level mods like Legend of the Dragonborn museum (designed to work with LAL start), Immersive College of Winterhold (how Bethesda should've made the Mages Guild), Simple Raven Rock Expansion (superior layout of DB vanilla Raven Rock), Helgen Reborn (lets you rebuild & garrison Helgen with civil war or non civil war faction NPCs) , Become King of Ivarstead (self explanatory), Solitude Expanded (must have overhaul of Solitude exterior), TAVE, Legendary Cities: TES Arena, and Expanded Towns, Cities.

Environmental/game play overhaul mods the like Skyrim Flora Overhaul, Realistic WATER 2, Obsidian Weathers & Seasons, Climates of Tamriel which improve the bland vanilla environment and weather system. Seasons shift and change as you move to different regions in the province. Blizzard/snowy weather in areas like Winterhold v. spring like weather in the Rift v. Autumn like weather in Whiterun/Markath etc.

Realistic needs/survival themed mods (that are optional and customizable features) the likes of Chesko's legendary Frostfall & Campfire mod. Which adds a hunger/thirst/sleep impact on combat abilities to the game. Which is completely compatible with all hunting, critter and environmental overhaul mods. And which features can be easily toggled/customized from a mod menu manager the likes of Sky UI. Or Wet and Cold/Holidays which add seasons and celebrations based on game holiday lore

Realistic complimentary needs mods like Realistic Needs and Diseases or Imp's More Complex Needs which allows your PC to eat both vanilla and custom mod made foods in the game. Which restore your health/magicka and stam stats.

Realistic hygiene mods like Bathing In Skyrim, Northern Bath houses, or Showers in Skyrim that let your PC become dirty with varying degrees of filth (depending on whether they're dungeon crawling or hiking/adventuring in the woods). And impact how NPCs interact with your PC as they stroll through town covered in filth. Failing to bathe regularly can lead to disease and possible death

Health & Disease mods like Vigor, Combat and Injuries, First Aid and Battle fatigue and Injuries. Failing to treat or heal your PC combat injuries over time leads to disease and/or death.

Armor/weapon repair mods like Loot & Degradation which causes your gear/weapons to wear out and require repair on a regular and customizable basis

Realistic NPC and critter AI behavior mods that alter human NPC and animal/wildlife behavior the likes of Populated Skyrim Hell Edition and Realistic Animals and Predators. With Predator mod, the animal AI no longer gangs up/focus only you and ignores other wildlife. They'll attack if feeling threatened, stalk other prey/animals, and randomly attack each other in the wilderness. And can ignore you completely depending on the situation.

Lore friendly family mods like TMPhoenix Adoption mod which lets you adopt up to 6 children (over base games 2 limit). If you're into collecting, building and buying mansions all over Skyrim, then this is the mod for you. Lots of properties for your kids to inherit.

Realistic & immersive critter mods that bring Skyrim to life the likes of Hunterborn, Real Wildlife Skyrim, Animallica, Art of the Catch and Fishing in Skyrim. All of which adds scores of marine wildlife/animals for your PC and friends to hunt (so they can eat if using survival mods like Frostfall & Campfire), make potions, craft & trade furs/weapons/trinkets etc to NPC vendors.

Mercantile, Trade & Economy mods which account for Skyrim's war economy like Trade, Simple Taxes and Barter and Economy Overhaul. Makes prices of commodities and goods dynamic and realistic based on wartime demand in different regions. Which can significantly impact your profits from any personal business you own or operate.

Personal business entrepreneur mods like Katina's Cider Restaurant and Brewery which let you (and or NPC employees) run a business. Which lets you make coin while freeing you to go adventure with friends an/or NPC companions. Or connoisseur brewer by running the Honeystraad Meadery. Or Heljarchen Farm which lets you build, own and run your own farm with NPC employees. Same for Winstaad mine if you want to operate your own mine and smith your own ore/ingots for sale. Sell said blacksmith commodities to a civil war faction etc.

The list of game play RP/PvE and PvP possibilities is endless. You're only limited by your imagination when playing a heavily modded, single player Skyrim. And if you're just sick of the word "Skyrim" in general, then download and install it's doppleganger Enderal off the Steam Workshop. A uniquely different world space complete with professionaly voiced acted NPCs, quests, world lore etc. that uses the Skyrim engine. You haven't even begun to scratch the surface. And I doubt playing the latest Greymoor rendition (aka ZoS blatant attempt to reboot ESO by attracting the single players with the this blatant Skyrim themed DLC) will do much to improve your enjoyment playing this MMO.

Also it was almost a full melee playthrough after leveling bow/destro to 100, dagger+sheild/2h. My crafted 2h is 1000% better than any of the junk you mentioned.
