Because it's fun. Despite all the BS(bar swap failures have really been an issue for me recently), it's still an enjoyable game to me.

If you are playing because it used to be fun or "might" be fun again in the future, stop playing. What you're doing is not healthy. Do something else. Play another game. Learn an instrument. Read. Involve yourself in athletics. Do anything, just don't waste your time in an activity that brings you no value, entertainment or othewise.

Because afaik it's the only mmo currently available which is not a totally dready failure. I'll play ESO if it gets in playable state before something else worth playing is released.

Love the lore, love the action, love my toons and their "power fantasy". Absolutely love the freedom, you can from minute 1 go anywhere and do anything, any region and alliance.

Only... This isn't enjoyable when you just can't physically play. Silks won't fire, bars won't swap, lag fest is real and every three months your favorite toons needs a rework of some sort.

Also, hard to justify paying for a game when the biggest mmo competitor out there, old as it is, plays better, no performance issues at all, and costs half the money. So much easier to have fun even if the game is objectively worse in every other way.

So yeah... What I mean is I don't play the game anymore.

I used to like my stamDK. I used to enjoy farming gear to improve my PvE and my PvP builds. I used to enjoy overland story, a fun way to progress my character. But now that it is so easy it puts me to sleep within minutes.

Now, they took away so many features from my class, features that werent even used by the meta builds.
I'm also sick of how lame they design abilities.
DW has terrible abilities and no tools other than a ridiculous Spectral Cloak that has nothing to do with the theme if Dual Wielding (just like Poison with Knights ir Dragons).

For 6 months they tinkered with Stone Giant against feedback, wasting time and resources.
Flying Blade should be a 1cast function, the same fix to a terrible design that they used for Silver Leash.

They cant solve problems. They cant identify issues and solve them case by case. Just blanket changes. Not going to pay a $ more when Streak is overloaded and regulated with fatique costs, while Reflective Plate was just deleted.

Not to mention the games performance. As soon as a new mmorpg releases Im out. Wont bother checking how they try to salvage this mess with projects like "class ID" and "skill normalization" or the performance improvements. For me AoC A1 is near

Because it has almost everything I want to have in mmorpg. Small other features, that eso do not have, I get in other mmorpg I play. I am a fan of Elder Scrolls lore, I love finding and reading new books, fishing in scenic places, even pugging dungeons. I like graphic quality, amount of customization available.

Unemployed and I like having something to achieve.

Why ESO specifically is similar to above, I love Elder Scrolls lore, I started playing this game rather than play skyrim for the 6th time.

The other option would be to play League of Legends ranked and lol no.

ESO has good storylines. I also enjoy the combat, better quality graphics than other major MMORPG titles, and some of the trails are very well designed.

Was bored at the time I started playing, thought I would give ESO a go, no other MMO's really interested me at the time and was getting tired of SWTOR which I had been playing for a few years.

Despite the games flaws, haven't really seen anything better to play, very few games lately have been interesting to me, so I keep playing this one when I have spare time not as much as when I started playing ESO though.

Because best mmo on market aTm even with its problems. I’m hoping either zos gets the game to run right (right now it’s probably worst performance ever) or a new mmo comes out that’s good hoping for ashes of creation to be good but who knows

Because of pvp. The combat system. The diversity of build possibilities.

It feels like the best game out there so far but because of lag me and my friends are always on the lookout for new games to play.

Story lines and side quests .... many of the quests are well done and even humorous at times, a few are heart breakers .. in short they put in the work to make questing fun.

AND, the worlds they have created are so enticing that wandering about the wilds is just so enjoyable, and abounds in moments where i go "oh thats a nice touch".

I love almost everything about it. I'm hopeful that they'll sort out the misfiring skills and improve lag as the performance improvements programme progresses but I still enjoy it maximally even with those shortcomings. I play on console but I've just bought a PC to play a bit of PTS, play the base game without DLCs, and visit some other players' housing. I don't imagine I'll be playing much else (maybe Swery games because fan) until they turn the servers off.

For a few different little reasons that come together to make a fantastic whole; it's an Elder Scrolls MMO across the whole of Tamriel, set in an Era we haven't seen before, with well-written, voiced quests, a large suite of actions in a fully interactable world, and I can play with a controller.

Started with the Beta and nothing else came close to ESO.

I remember a feeling of wonder at seeing the amazing scenery. It was even better to be able to share this with friends and muh family.

What keeps me playing....is the time I have put into the game and PvP.

Most of all the lovely ESO community. The many that have become friends ingame and some irl keeps me playing too!! :)

For the same reason I play all of my games, to get out of my head. While the current situation is terrible, for me, it's been my day to day for 15 years. While it's fun to watch some of the meltdowns brought on lately, it's sobering to realize how many of the people that I know IRL that wouldn't have survived doing what I've had to do, based on how they're reacting now. I've had games to fall back on, and for what passes as my social life, and to keep me from taking my situation too seriously, and so I play them. My family has realized the benefit of it over the years, because w/out the distractions, it's too easy to slip into a really bad situation.

I barely do. Sometimes i log in just to train the horses and collect the items from the hirelings, and if i really feel like playing ESO i do it during late night hours, when pvp cyro is playable, and a bottle of whiskey by my side too.

If this game worked as it should i would spend lots of hours, but it doesn't, so this game is quite dead to me already.

Probably going to go back after greymoor releases, since I've always liked the story telling in ESO and want to try our the new vampire, have a fun melee vamp magsorc for cyrodiil in my mind that have potential is probably going to be fun as hell.

Because despite the disproportionately hateful and negative narratives to be found here across the forums, ESO remains one of the best, most enjoyable and most successful MMOs in history.

Saying this, does not seek to gloss over or ignore the numerous areas that need fixed or improved.

Because it has a lot of pretty fun thing to do.

    * Storylines are often well done
    * Although combat is mosty too easy there's some pretty challenging dungeons
    * I like housing
    * The landscapes are often gorgeous
    * I love the quality voice acting and lip sync
    * No (or hardly any) bots or gold seller spamming
    * People are generally nice and helpful (although also often in a rush)

My first half year of playing is almost over and I am not sure I will play this game for a very long time or that I will move on to something else like I did after playing GW1 GW2 WoW and EVE for years. Although ESO has some really strong points it's also very much lacking in a lot of other areas. Which I will not go into. :)
