Have been away from the PVP game for a long while, my main which i will use is a magplar
I think im gona make a build running valkyn, and shackle breaker, but for the 2nd 5piece i cant decide between SEDUCER OR BRIGHTTHROAT. Seducer has alot of rcovery and cost reduction, and bright throat gives a big boost to overall magika. Im looking for whats the best sustain overall between the two, or if the community has better set combination ideas.

What class are you going to play?

Imo bright throat is better than seducer in most scenarios.

Shacklebreaker is already a sustain set. I’d use a damage set or maybe a defensive set like buffer of the swift.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

I personally don't see much point building into magicka on templar. They don't have a +X% magicka passive. Instead they have access to Minor Sorcery. The single reason you'd build into magicka is that Purifying Light scales with it. I'm not enough of an expert to say how much magicka you should aim for on account of that. I tend to build for spell damage instead.

Bearing the above in mind, I prefer Amber Plasm over Shacklebreaker, if you have that set. Amber has a crit bonus that also synergises with templar and you're getting more sustain out of it, which means an additional spell damage glyph you might not otherwise use.

Malcolm, the well known PC EU sorc expert, points out that Bright Throat's and Seducer are near equivalent in his sorc builds, however the Seducer bonus does not stack well with Breton racial passives. Thus, if you are a Breton, avoid Seducer.

I'd avoid those sets altogether on magplar. I'm currently using Amber Plasm, a New Moon Acolyte front bar and Bewitched Sugar Skulls. Blessing of Potentates is the obvious backbar. Other front bar options include Spinner and Overwhelming Surge. NBs will hate you for the latter.

I think Bright Throat's is no longer a good set, if you can afford gold foods. It forces you into purple foods or Disastrously Bloody Mara. If you go with the latter, your stamina will be low and you'll end up recovering that with prismatic enchants and/or Shacklebreaker. I think Sugar Skulls and straight up magicka gear enchants nets you a better build.

Finally, whenever I talk about magplar, honorable mention goes to Cyrodiil's Light. There is an old build, called the Phalanx build, on YouTube. It uses that set. You get 15% damage reduction while doing Puncturing Sweeps, Radiant Destruction, Deep Thoughts and Mist Form. What's especially neat about that build is that people tend to bash you while in Deep Thoughts and Cyrodiil's Light gives you a free cast of the expensive Mist Form afterwards. With the changes to vampire on Monday (on PC), that idea may no longer be relevant, but the set may be worth keeping in the back of your mind.

One additional thought: Use light armor. Heavy armor is a complete no from me on magicka classes, unless you go for a tank / healer. The crit and pen from light armor is too valuable, especially on templar, which has a crit damage passive. If you ever try heavy, the damage loss is very noticeable. Options to become tankier include:

    Buffer of the Swift
Blessing of Potentates (typically backbar only)
    Wizard's Riposte
    Cyrodiil's Light
    Impregnable
    1H+S backbar
    Bloodspawn (nerfed next patch)
2x resistance pieces (nerfed next patch)
Pirate Skeleton (buffed next patch !)

Pirate Skeleton was THE go to option for making your light armor magplar tanky in the past. The class could cope with the defile from that set. ZOS are bringing down the cooldown again next patch, so it may become viable again.

None of those. Meta food is sugar skulls which is tri stat + health recovery. Valkyn does not proc on jabs anymore so its not very reliable.

Sustain is best found through ele drain, well timed heavy attacks and meditate.

In cp pvp there is no real need for recovery based sets. In no cp, it's more stat efficient to change your glyphs.

@iCaliban very well, what would be your armor of choice setup for a magplar in cyrodil/BG?
What monster set, and 5piece armor set ups would you pick or 1 5pc set and 4/5pc set with mythic item would you go with?

With the current round of changes, buffer of the swift body, and either the new off balance set combined with slimecraw or master destro paired with willpower jewls and either balorgs or slimecraw OR a full 5pc and no monster set. Scathing mage would be a good choice. Lightning/resto or sword and shield. The new malacath ring is a good option instead of willpower/slime for no cp.

There isnt a right answer here. I have run both on various magic builds. Recently, I have been running seducer so I can run tri stat food on my sorc, and it works very well, but I am pairing with a damage set. With the stamina from shacklebreaker, you might not care about tristat food as much. Also, since shacklebreaker is already sort of a Hybrid regen set, Bright throats might be better because its more damage than seducer, all else being equal.

The big issue with Bright Throats is that you are forced to use a drink. From a stat efficiency standpoint, it's really hard to beat tri-stat food, which is why I no longer run it. I do run Bone Pirate (stamina version) on some of my stamina characters, but they typically dont really care about their magic pool. All magic characters need a healthy amount of stamina.
