DW swords = cost reduction. Nirnhoned weapon trait = cost reduction

When choosing whether to equip Sword or Mace to gain DW passive dmg or penetration, there is little room for creativity. The dmg meta will dectate.

I propose that Swords should provide cost reduction, either mediocre but universal (ulty block dodge sprint ability) or strong ability reduction.

I also propose that the Nirn weapon trait provides cost reduction, either mediocre but universal (ulty block dodge sprint ability) or strong ability reduction.

Good values, not some crap values like Invigorating armor trait, or the weak Imperial racial passive.

Would these changes provide more room for imagination when creating a build?

Or is it ok to keep the same boring Sword/nirb = higher atk but not rly since Mace/Sharp = effective atk.

Nah leave my nirnhoned swords on my mag chars alone! That's the only reliable way to get stamina on mag for constant rolling and at least it has a decent benefit.

Cost reduction is useless most of the time and would only benefit some classes and races more than others, where weapon damage and spell damage and/or damage done is not.

You are aware that most stam builds that use DW run a nirnhoned 1h weapon in the front bar main-hand, right?
With your proposed idea every top tier stam DD would have to transmute their nirnhoned weapons.

If you want more cost reduction infused jewelry is a good option.

Making the existance of two similar traits useless.

Sharpened and Nirn is not comparable though. As long as target is not fully pened, Sharpened is always better for damage. But as soon as heals come into the picture, Nirn is better.

Nirn is just underpowered. A simple adjustment in magnitude would fix it. It currently gives 200 Weapon/Spell Damage with most weapon types, and this would need to increase to 300 to be equivalent to Precise and close to Infused. Maybe make it a flat value instead of a % so it doesn’t become overpowered on DW and 2H.

For Sword passives, there’s nothing wrong with the damage done stat, but again the values are off. Each 1H Sword should give “5%” tooltip damage, for “10%” total or with a 2H. This works out to ~3.1% DPS per Sword in end game PVE (due to additive bonuses), which is just under the 3.3% DPS obtained with 5% crit from a dagger. For lower CP’s the Sword would pull ahead slightly. This would also be very closely balanced with Axes.
