I've never bought or sold crowns and have always seen people selling crowns in zone chat. Recently a house ingame caught my eye it's 3 million gold or 11,000 crowns. I have 5,000. So last night I decided to see about buying crowns from someone who was hawking them and lo and behold was told crowns cannot be gifted. I have about 2 million gold so guess I'll wait lol.

Was just weird thinking you can be gifted crowns only to find out you cannot. So now I am homeless in ESO. Other than finding someone with 11k crowns who can buy the home it will be a gold purchase. Not much point to my post other than after seeing a zillion 5k crowns for sale posts in zone chat to find out that it's not the crowns for sale lol.

People sell crowns by gifting items from the crown store. The seller must pay the whole price so you can't use partly your own crowns. You also can't gift homes.

"Gifting crowns for gold" is a short form of the actual method, which is "Gift crown store items in exchange for gold."

Only certain crown store items can be gifted.
Due to a bug with gifting houses on the PTS (players couldn't gift houses they owned, IIRC), houses are not among the crown store items that can be gifted.

You can gift homes by requesting it through Support. It’s much more inconvenient than the usual gifting method, but it has been done.

There are plenty of homes buyable with in-game gold, @Veinblood1965.

If you don’t want to purchase crowns, you only blame yourself for not being able to obtain a crown-exclusive home (if that’s really what this thread is about).

No need to read things into this that aren't there. I actually ported around to all the ingame homes and found one I like and NO it's not crown exclusive, as I stated it can be bought with gold also, I do pretty good saving gold ingame so it's just a matter of time. Was figuring I could by 6k crowns for 600k gold and save myself some gold and time. But as others posted you can't gift homes so it's the gold route it is. I've never cared much for housing ingame but recently bought the alinor greenhouse and it does look cool, sadly it doesn't fit in any of the cheap homes I use for porting! It's how I'll get hooked on housing I'm afraid that this is the start of something that is a huge gold sink for me!
