Maintenance for the week of April 6:

What do you think was the most "impactful" choice players can make in ESO?

The choice of the Mane?
Save/leave Mannimarco? (doesn't look too impactful from the future look tho..)
Choose who to sacrifice in the end of main quest?

It's a shame we don't have a lot of choices in main quest lines.....for example would love to have an option to support King Kurog in the end

Probably sheogorath's deal. It's the only thing that actually has an impact I can recall (skill points vs no skill points)

    Quest Spoilers:

Well, the 1st time I did the quest I chose to leave him and got a quest failed message. So, every time since then I've chosen to save him.

It's an MMO. What do you expect? You're somewhat limited by the presence of thousands of other players, so something like setting off the bomb in Megaton becomes a little problematic.

Race, class, and alliance. Everything else has little to no consequence.

That NPC you decide to spare instead of kill? Removed from the game regardless.

There is that one quest in Coldharbour that had me pondering for a very long time. The Soul Meld mage. It's also one of the cases where the NPC does stick around.

In the end none of the choices have an impact outside of the last mage guild quest. That, only because you can get an extra skill point.

Even Stibbons quests where choices are made are merely entertainment value to see what happens with each choice.

I am not being critical though. Every story line has to essentially save something from something else. It is to much work to create separate story lines based on choices in quests. The only time I have seen a real effect it was superficial window dressing, but it was something.

    This.
Note that its multiple places who are phased and get restored at end of quest, however option here is just to do the quest or not and you can always do the quest later.

Sheogorath's deal at end of mage guild quest is obviously the one affecting player most.

Now for an lore point of view who becomes mane should have impact in the future as its an high position in the dominion.
Who you sacrifice in main quest might have
Mannimarco could have future impact but probably not.

Note that NPC react on some of your choices, has some who blame me.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Old thread, I know, but most of these choices really could use a "I don't care" option. Especially when I, a dunmer, is running around Dominion or Covenant lands, you figure it out, it's not my concern.

Emphasis on WAS the most impactful choice.
Too bad ZOS cheapened it by bringing back everyone.

Mass Effect 1 had the same type of choice. And throughout the trilogy they never let you forget it and they milked it for all the nostalgia they could and it was awesome.

Do not subscribe or buy anything from the crown store or give any money to ZoS until the issues, the bugs, additional server resources are fixed and the game is working/no longer beta mode.

SO long as people spend money on a broken game, there exists no reason for ZoS to fix it.

Yeah I agree to spend or not to spend money, and what to spend it on. It impacts game design choices.

There are some impactful decisions in Wrothgar and Vvardenfell during some of the side quests which don’t necessarily affect the outcome of the game but will change the dialogue of that NPC going forward. Of course you’ll have to seek them out in the future for that to happen which few people ever actually get around to doing.

The main quests are going to pretty much point you towards roughly the same decisions no matter what with the same outcome just a different NPC saying the same dialogue.

There are other instances as well where dialogue changes depending on your race or whether you’ve helped an NPC in the base game and interacted with them later in a DLC zone. There is some importance to playing the zones in order and then playing Cadwell’s silver/gold before moving to DLC if you want all of the stories to make sense.

Anyhow the most impactful decisions to me personally were on side quests in Vvardenfell. There were actually some tough moral decisions hidden behind some really deep and involved quests.

Whether to play through the tutorial on a new character or skip it, because it also affects the number of skill points?
