Magcro Lightning Staff Question
With all the AOE abilities from a magcro would a lightning staff front bar actually compete with a flame staff FB? The skeletal arcanist, ricochet Skull (3rd cast), boneyard, wall, blast bones seems like the 8 percent from lightning staff would make it viable as a front bar.
Are all those abilities AOE, and if they are, would a front bar lightning staff actually be competitive with an inferno staff.

✭✭✭✭✭It might be close, but I think Inferno still pulls ahead. I think Skull counts as single target even when it bounces, and last time I checked Mystic Orb was not considered AoE (although it wasn’t ST either, unaffected by both staff types). Also keep in mind that Fire Light Attacks deal an additional 10% more damage to enemies affected by Engulfing Flames, not just the 8% from being single target.
Siphon is also a strange one. I believe the damage you see is considered AoE, but casting it is categorized as single target aimed at a corpse. The only reason I know this is because a few months ago the Maelstrom DW (Cruel Flurry) was found to buff Siphon’s Damage on Stamcro. I don’t think there’s any way to make use of this fact on Magcro, even sets like Z’en’s are unaffected (it is single target, but the corpse is the recipient so it doesn’t count as a DoT on the enemy).1 -

✭✭✭✭✭IIRC (at least in the unreliable tooltip) Blastbones was buffed by the Inferno Staff even though it explicitly does AoE damage.
My best guess is because it's single-target in aiming if not in actual damage effect.0 -

Sooo I will do some parses I suppose tonight, Magnecro seems to have a TON of aoe in its kit, even though all the burning passives make inferno seem more beneficial, I am wondering what kind of results you would get running a lightning staff.0 -
Reason being is I did happen to get an ele succession lightning staff, and ele succession is preforming really well on my macro as a body, but I do have some gold body sets I would like to use instead and allow me to FB ele succession0

I’m actually in that same situation. Interested in hearing your results. Maybe I can transmute the Succession Lightning and stop trying for the Inferno.1 -

My exact situation. I will let you know. Prob is I dont have a damn vma inferno staff to back bar. But all things equal I will do a parse later with a lightning staff fb and see the results. Il do a lightning ms bs an inferno ms and see what we get.
If the lightning performs the same or better, il transmute my ele succession and run a gold body set like ms or fg0
