The whole war is an abysmally stupid thing, anyways, but I guess we won't get a "No Alliance Token", allowing us to play in a Cyrodiil where the factions united to face the real threats (like Daedra)... :/

That pretty much describes most war...

It's much easier I think for us players to see how shallow it is because... well, as a game it is shallow, and two; almost all wars look stupidly shallow to the people not actually in them.

As I play through the factions right now (I'm a returning player that only dabbled before) - it's interesting to me that the faction that seem to have the most morally upstanding leader is also the 'villain faction' a 1000 years from now - Dominion. Queen Ayrenn is good and everything she does seems to come from a positively-minded place... but her people are destined to go down an extremely dark path. When you play Dominion pretty much everyone you're fighting against in terms of the internal conspiracies - wins in the end. Or rather their ideology eventually will win long after our characters are dead. It feels very much like stretching Germany from 1800-1941 out over 1000 years. Especially given that Germany came about as minor kingdoms united to break free from the Austrian Empire.

The other factions so far, have leaders that just seem to want power for it's own sake - but maybe I will see more to them later. We get a lot of 'face time' with Ayrenn early on so it's easy for me to gauge her.

Game wise the whole thing just seems fabricated to give us a PvP zone that is based on expanding the core idea of what Guild Wars 2 did... but historic wars have been even stupider...
