What if it cost gold to /zone or /yell in zone chat

You can just close the chat, or you can go into the chat options and switch it so you don't see zone chats but you do see group/guild/say. You can even get mods to completely remove the chat.
Paying gold for chatting is ridiculous.

I tested /say once with another player and we came up with a 28M range. /Yell is still local but longer range - not sure on exact range.

I would love to monitor zone chat for 'need help at XYZ WB' or 'LF healer for XYZ group dungeon' or even straightforward gameplay questions. But there is so much spam, trying to sell, guild recruiting that what I would be interested gets completely lost in the drivel. Therefore, I don't monitor zone. A shame, really.

OP's suggestion would fall victim to 'the law of unintended consequences'; /say would be flooded since it was free. Then players like I would have to block /say as well as /zone. As it is now, at least I can tolerate /yell and /say (most of the time).

oh yeaah, like monitizising the freedom to talk in zone chat is a good idea. I'm being sarcastic if you cant tell. just thought I'd say that.

Some games don't even let you talk, and especially not /yell, without buying a consumable.

unique doesnt mean better - eso should learn what other games are doing better and improve - every system should
