At its best, it's a miserable, lag infested waste of time for about 20 out of 24 hours every day. However, you have an event coming up encouraging people to spend their time in there knowing full well the game simply can't support the population at off-peak times. Please boost the rewards in battlegrounds considerably so they can more evenly match the rewards in your typical Cyrodiil campaign.

xshatox✭✭✭✭Battleground is not alliance war so no alliance rank. As for AP battleground if you win or at least second place its already more AP than cyrodiil on average.13

✭✭✭✭✭The AP gain in BGs is pretty great. At most, you are in for 15 mins and at worst you are earning like 7K AP just for showing up. Let's say you average 10 minutes per BG match, you are earning at minimum, 42K AP per an hour of work. And if you win all 6 of those matches, you are earning 72K AP per hour.
Capturing a keep in Cyrodil is what? 6K AP per keep? So you would need to capture 7 keeps per hour to even get the minimum AP gain that you get in BGs, and you would need 12 Keeps per hour to get the maximum.
Unless you are on a dead server, you are not capturing 7 keeps an hour, let alone 12. Especially when a Keep capture fails, you get nothing. And some failing captures could take more than 15 minutes.2 -

PrinceShroob✭✭✭✭✭All Alliance Points, no matter their source, contribute to your character's alliance war rank and your Assault and Support skill lines. You can even progress these skill lines with Alliance Points gained from daily login rewards.
You will receive Rewards for the Worthy messages when you earn enough Alliance Points from battlegrounds (though if you have not set a home campaign, you can receive these messages from the wrong scribe for your alliance).
The only difference between Alliance Points gained from daily login rewards and from battlegrounds and Alliance Points earned in Cyrodiil is that only Alliance Points earned in Cyrodiil count towards the leaderboard for your home campaign.1
