"This account is already logged in" - no it isn't

I've been having this problem for quite a while now, I think since Elsweyr dropped.

I'll get home from work, try to log in and be told I'm already logged in. Why ESO isn't able to log your account out automatically upon re-logging I don't know, but anyway.

I literally haven't been logged in for at least 8 hours.

But here's the thing: I have 3 accounts and if I log in on one of my other accounts and then immediately log out and try my main account again it'll log in fine.

So my guess is there's an issue with the client where it's not properly marking an account as logged out, and logging in on another account clears it.

Lucky I have multiple accounts or else I'd be constantly raising tickets.

Try swapping over to EU (or na if you're on eu) server, and then back to your original once logged in succesfully in the other. Had the same issue a couple of times but that fixed it :)
    Edit = Typos ... as usual. <;D

This happened to me the first time today. Restarting the client and logging in worked for me.

I was apparently "logged in" for about 45 minutes while i made dinner/showered etc.

One has to wonder if stuff like this has a negative effect on server performance, if it happens to enough people.

    Maybe worth looking into? @ZOS_GinaBruno

That's a very good point. Perhaps it could also inflate concurrent player numbers, as well?

Something I forgot to mention - I play via the launcher, not Steam.

Thanks. When you say fixed it, you mean completely? Or as and when it happens?

Usually I get this after being booted from game and logging in right away

Usually it resolves within about 5 min

But I'm glad thee are other options to try, thanks for that
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I have this happening a lot lately. Even when I am just starting up the game after a day of work. I don't get why I get the error. Closing the client and starting it usually works.
