So can't queue for dungeon while on Main Quest or lose all progress? What the$%^&?

What kind of Indie game is this when I am nearly done with a 20-30 minute or so main quest and my dungeon queue pops, I take it, then the quest starts fresh from the beginning again?? This is unacceptable when I cannot do main quest progress and be in a dungeon queue at the same time. [snip] makes me not want to play [snip] game anymore. My time is more valuable than anything else I have, including money.

Main quest is designed to be played without interruption. It is effectively a solo dungeon. So if you want to queue, play zone quests while waiting.

It depends on the quest really. Avoid quests that put you into a solo instance or a clearly defined interior and you should be fine. By clearly defined I mean any that bring up a loading screen; delves, ayleid ruins, anything along those lines.

I'll usually play it by ear. If a queue pops shortly after I've entered one I'll accept it knowing it's gonna boot me. If I've been roaming a place for a good amount of time I'll just decline the queue if it pops before I finish.

You have always been returned to the beginning of the instance for the Main Quest Stage if you leave it for any reason. Been this way since beta of the game.

Don't Queue if you are doing the MQ. Or any instanced quest. And places like Camlorn.

You can't expect the server to hold a partially done instance until you decide to come back. That would drag down performance for all the other players.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Why would you queue if you're on a main quest stage, there's nothing fr you to be moaning about there but I do love the indignation in the last sentence :D

    Exactly.
And yes, it has been like that forever.
Same effect if you disconnect for any reason. Or have to log off in the middle of it because of RL emergency interrupts.

Its annoying, but... it happens. (trust me, I know exactly how it feels)

And then you get vexed, and you vent, and you whine, and you rage about it... and then you accept that sometimes life (or a game too) is a bi... uhm... you know... and move on. A bit smarter, a bit more experienced, and hopefully never making that particular mistake again. And maybe even warning some newbie about it someday.

And the time you lost is the tuition fee for another learning experience.
Some other learning experiences are -way- more costly, both in terms of money and time - and sometimes, sweat and blood and tears, and worse, believe me.

And that is the thing to always remember.

Its the same in the other MMORPGs I played - if you go into a dungeon (or equivalent) while in an instanced solo quest... you loose the quest progress. Some games have partial instancing, then you go back to the last "safepoint" - others don't have that, and you loose it all and start from the start point.

So, while queueing for dungeons, stay overland, or in dwelves, or in public dungeons... there is doesn't matter. But solo instances, no matter if mainquest, guild stuff, storyline instance... don't do dungeons.

Some parts of the quests, as already mentioned by others, are solo dungeons basically, it puts you into solo instance so you are not interrupted by other players.

So no, you cannot dungeon while you dungeon Bro. And chill, you stress to much. .#

Would like to say that there have been times when I have been disconnected for one reason or another doing a MQ and was still in there when I logged back in with my progress intact. Not sure how that's determined.

Larger parts of the MQ do save some of your progress. However, you may have to run through an empty portion of the instance to get back where you were. And, if you can get back in quick enough, the game may not have torn down the instance yet. Depends on how busy the servers are for that to happen.

I never even queued for a dungeon until I finished the main quest and hit the gear cap so I wouldn’t be too much of a liability in a group. I think I’ve been bumped back to the start of a couple delves since I started doing group content, nothing that didn’t take about 20 seconds to blow through again.

Even the MQ stuff is easy enough to blow through again save for a few of the boss fights if your level is low and if you are experiencing difficulty in a boss fight in the MQ what you are going to see in a dungeon will be way harder depending on which dungeon you’ve queued for and if it’s a random one you may get something several levels above anything you’ve seen. My first three dungeons that I played in a PUG on random were fang lair, scale caller and frostvault. Even in normal mode these are hard. Thankfully I had experienced players to guide me.

So I would suggest maybe getting through MQ and getting some CP under your belt before queueing up anyway. You’ll solve a couple problems that way. First is your own personal progression and second you won’t get bumped out of important content that takes any length of time to progress to get back.
