What Bonuses/Benefits/Buffs do the Alinor Levitating Bed and Masterworked Silver Kettle Provide?

What title says. The descriptions for both these gold/legendary furnishing items indicate they're animated. However no corresponding animations for these items can be found on YT or the web. Only their descriptions. Has anyone been able to craft these items as yet? Just wanted to know if there was any remote point to the mind numbing grind for writs just to unlock and acquire these:

Bed (would be somewhat useful from RPing perspective to be able to emote lying down sleep on it. Even better, get superior bonus buff to health/magicka and stam. but this is still a dream):

The bed just kind of floats like the levitating books do. There is levitating bed in the Cepora Tower on Atreaum in Valserin's room you can look at.

Bed flows in place, but player characters placed on it won't flow, so aside from looking good there is nothing special about that bed. Also if you plan to buy recipe and you don't have plan to collect ALL recipes (this will be long and VERY expensive venture), don't buy this recipe. This beds are on sale 24/7 and for reasonable prices.

The silver kettle has steam coming out the spout if you activate it. It's also a very nice looking kettle, IMO.

Ahhh. Just as I'd feared. The hope of at least being able to emote sleep on the bed like you can with normal ones was a stretch. But particularly the kettle. Which they could've easily coded to double as a working storage beverage container. Perhaps even with the ability to carry/access it from your storage bag/chest etc. while on the road. So my toon is sadly stuck with scrolling through all their non beverage consumable items in their inventory. Just to find that ONE drink for health/mag/stam they need for particular combat situations while on the road....

Oh well. Thank you all for saving my sanity on doing any Village Idiot crafting grind to get these. They're simply not worth it then.

Oh ZoS. You could've made out like a bandit if you made animated items like these more emergent game play rewarding and player friendly. What will it take for you to see that it's the player-world interaction with the game environment which is why Skyrim still remains in Steam Top 100 to date?

So. Much. Potential. Wasted.

@MartiniDaniels Thank you. Just saw what you posted about the bed. Guess I'll be going with the cash route. Because as you said, the joke requirement of having to unlock the Unsurpassed Crafter achievement is beyond insanity squared.

If you talk to the writ voucher merchants you can click on the furniture plans in their inventories to preview the furnishings. That will show you the animations. (For ones with a few different animations/modes there are arrows at the bottom of the screen to cycle through different versions.)

There are no furnishings which provide any type of buffs. With very few exceptions furnishings are purely cosmetic. Those exceptions are:
* chests - can be used to store items from your inventory
* merchant, banker and fence - can be interacted with in houses, providing exactly the same options as when they're summoned out in the world
* crafting stations - can be used to craft the same items you can make at public crafting stations
* training dummies - can be used to check your DPS

Yeah I know. By having buffs I meant being able to craft or buy furniture and/or cook food (have ultra light survival eat/sleep/drink HuD UI elements) which would give your toon bonus buffs (or detract) from existing mundus stone constellation ones.And of course, this ultra lite survival HuD would be 100% optional and enabled by toggle in main menu. So as example:

eating food would directly impact your health bar. At 0% your health regen (based on mundus/char/CP design) would be at minimum. At 100%, it would drive your regen at 100% or perhaps even faster like 200%+

drinking beverages: cure thirst which could adversely affect your stam. Drinking too much alcoholic beverages to the point you become drunk should harm your stam regen. Leaving you with the stunned/dazed/off balance animation your toon gets when they get hit upside the head in combat.

sleeping : directly affects all combat stats and in particular the health and magicka regen. At 100% full sleep bar meter, your toon is well rested and gets a bonus buff to magicka & health regen. At 0%, ability to cast spells and self heal (including external sources like potions/food/other players/NPCs) is significantly reduced to a minimum.

An update like that would make furnishing your home a far more interactive, immersive, and enjoyable process. To date, we can only use craft stations with extremely limited animated furshings (the likes of the Alinor bath set and the floating bed). Although there are a couple of extremely useful animated objects like that food storage bin (can't remember the name of it) which gets placed in the kitchen. Nice immersive way to store your cooked meals. There is also the Alinor Green house that lets you plant/store/decor crops & other garden produce in it.

But apart from practical items like these, the majority of the animated furnishings are purely for cosmetic show when interacted with. Good example is the Windmill which functionality is limited to rotating windmill blades. You can't use it to craft/grind raw crops into flour and/or other food/alchemical craft uses. WHY ZoS??

All of the above being said, if you can afford getting a kettle with gold from a guild vendor, I recommend it. I don't think it's worth it to try crafting yourself, but it's a very cute furnishing.

You're not getting at what I'm saying. Slotting exiting food/drink are the same as slotting potions. They don't serve any other purpose but to given bonus buffs to your existing combat stats. Just like potions.

What I'm suggesting is ZoS do an independent update which ADDS the functional capacity for hunger, thirst and sleep UI bars. So crafting furniture would be a natural support and extension of such a feature. Especially the gold/legendary furnishings like the floating bed and kettle. Also this would be an ultra lite survival mechanic and a purely optional feature (which you can toggle from the settings menu). Having a lite survival mechanic would give RPers and the more hardcore/immersive PvE players a real reason to acquire recipes. And a practical reason for doing salvage/farming/hunting/fishing activities to make food and drink in game.

The way the system is right now, is food and food/drink recipes are practically redundant with the Alchemy/potions system. Why bother with leveling up in Provisioning when it does absolutely nothing for your character development (other than gaining the achievements for maxing the cooking skill level?) And especially when drinking a high level Potion is just as if not more effective? Basically give the various festivals we've got (which mostly center around holiday food from the Provinces) a genuine reason to exist.

TL DR: Since your toon lacks hunger/thirst HuD bar needs, then they don't need to eat or drink anything. Which implies they don't really need food/sleep associated furnishings because they functionally add nothing of practical value to game play. Furnishings which are made even more irrelevant, because your toon already has the alternative ability to drink potions (which they can conveniently access from slots in their quick bar). Which means the Provisioning/Fishing recipes and skills used to acquire said food or drink items are completely redundant and unnecessary. But a hunger/thirst/sleep HuD needs bars would greatly remedy that and make the game more challenging, practical and immersive to play.

I don't know about anyone else but to me your original post did not make it clear you were suggesting something extra you'd like added. It sounded like you assumed furnishings already do give buffs and wanted to find out which ones these specific furnishings had, not that you were aware they didn't give any but would like that changed in future.

That's an entirely different conversation. It's something that's been requested ever since housing was announced, but for whatever reason ZOS prefers to keep housing almost entirely cosmetic.

Personally if they ever did add buffs to furnishings I'd prefer it to be by type - so all beds give the same buff for example. I enjoy the cosmetic aspect of it and it would be really boring if suddenly everyone was using all the same furnishings just because those are the ones that give the best buffs. I'd prefer a balance between the two where you can choose whichever bed, kitchenware, chairs etc. you think look best for your house, and then get a benefit from using them, rather than restrict it to specific items.

I'm a little confused when you say that eating/drinking has no practical value right now. It's a long term buff (up to over two hours) to your stats, that stacks with whatever temporary buffs you receive from potions (which differ from foods because they are also an emergency resource restore). My magsorc has 12k health without food. If he didn't eat, a stiff breeze could take him out. lol

Thank you both for the quick replies! Sorry if I was rambling in my earlier reply. I have so. MANY. ISSUES. where and how the furniture/food/RPG feature aspects of this game could be better implemented. But I suspect these aren't going to become reality partially because of the technical (servers are laggy and poor performance wise already). And partly because it's a business/management design my ZoS. Where retaining a monopoly/control of all sources of custom/crafted content needs to be sourced from them (via the store) and not the player base. Basically release store items as re-meshed (like Indriks) and/or drip feed DLC

Anyhow, I suppose this is the price paid for playing TES as an MMO. Everything I've moaned salt over in this thread has been taken for granted in single player Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind

@Watchdog Thx for the invite. Will have to take a rain check on doing this a bit later (as I'm helping out my guildmates and doing some freelance trading stuff atm). But will definitely msg you once I get the free time. Here's to hoping the EU server connection is better than my native NA one lol

@KyleTheYounger - I got the impression that you're actually looking for an "iNeed" system for ESO. Knowing MMOs fairly long-term, I'm going to say that it's something that's not going to fly here. If it were something they would be interested in adding, it would have to be optional. And if they add this sort of thing as an option, there are going to be a lot of people who are going to ask, again, why they can't have a similar "option" to make overland questing more like vet dungeons.

Probably a can of worms, and as such, I tend to think it's not going to happen.

practical = a genuine hunger/thirst and sleep needs system. The way the current system is now is that food = alternative form of a crafted potion. You get beneficial buffs and time stat bonuses for consuming food just like potions.

Not eating sufficient food does NOT cause any adverse impacts to your toon's combat stats in terms of health, magicka & stamina. You could still play this game without any food/drink consumables using potions and enchanted glyphs (at high quality gold/purple etc). So there is no genuine eating/thirst or sleep need in the existing game mechanic.

Basically an ultra lite rendition of Skyrim's famous Real Needs and Diseases (minus the diseases part. Instead of diseases, toon magicka/stam and especially health bars are negatively affected. And with increasing frequency the longer hunger/thirst and sleep aren't addressed.)

And also given the furniture crafting in the game, provide some minor form of environmental exposure to your toon combat readiness as well. Similar to how the Skyrim Frostfall-Campfire mod works. Your toon's environmental exposure to the environment (like in dangerous places like near lava flows etc) should affect their health/magicka/stam stats. Which would make eating/drinking and sleeping necessary. The exposure mechanic doesn't need to be as complex as in Frostfall. But your toon would suffer from combat performance stats if they weren't properly fed and/or well rested.

The advantage of the EHT add-on is that you can visit any of my houses which is not locked to visitors even when I am not online. There is also a network of Open Houses, which may be interesting to visit, as they tend to be furnished and decorated by their owners.
