I try to jump, and i cant get over the item for like the next 10 jumps.
Please, i beg of you increase the jump height value by like half of the distance between the foot and knee.

thanks

I always get really anxious when I can't jump over the little wall next to the wayshrine in Davon's Watch because I think everyone is looking at me and laughing.

Well it's kind of a realistic jump, it's just we're super used to heroic super jumping in games.

And that mini wall near one of the EP Cyro gate transitus shrines (or maybe both gates have them?). Jump too close to it and your sproing backwards. So embarrassing.

Yeah, but like...how's about some super heroic jumping in ESO? There's a lore precedent for it and all.

This has been one of my biggest gripes since the beginning. I can't think of any other game where jumping was as broken as it is in this one. Not sure how they've managed to make it feel so horribly off, yet somehow...

They can't do that. This is a signature part of the game. We have to hop around like idiots to get over obstacles that are blocking us.

    Trust me... they really are.
    :p;)

(Yeah, I always feel the same... tho on the other hand, it does make for a better feeling when I -do- manage that jump... the trick is getting the timing right...)

I feel more vexed by not being able to step over some pebbles (sticks, stones, the occasional shrubbery) because they are -just- that sminge too high to just walk over, and requite a jump. Sheesh, how aggrivating, Even worse when it happens on horseback...

Your character is powerful. You can summon demons, throw bolts of energy, leap across vast distance to attack an enemy even cause the ground itself to do your biding. Yet somehow, you are brought to a complete stop, even bent to your knees by a pebble on the road.

Lol that's because the ground was dangerous and you'd fall into the void at a moment's notice... Fun times. And people think THIS game has bugs. xD

Still, yeah, the jumps are slightly short. Kinda wish it worked like in GTA V, where if you snag your foot or misjudge distance you straight up faceplant. Outside of combat, of course. Eating dirt in the middle of a battle would suck.

It isn't even a jump height issue most of the time, it's how jumping functions in this game. The momentum itself is god awful. It's not smooth at all. You often just completely lose momentum halfway through a jump. I hate it.

It's also a directional thing. It really irks me when my character is looking straight ahead and the cursor is pointing straight ahead but the jump goes sideways! What's up with that?

Yep, it's frustrating. Especially when you're running full speed and then jump and it stops you dead in your tracks.
Momentum is completely screwed up, why on nirn do you slow down when you jump? Makes no sense.
Makes jumping over things difficult as you just end up jumping in place instead of actually moving forward.

I not-so-fondly remember having to place a "mark" spell at every dungeon entrace, and a spell to levitate ready, just in case... and finding myself forced to use it every third dungeon. Some days, two outta three. On the other hand, it DID allow for a lot of safe scouting, so there is that...

When mounted, you don't have to jump over that wall when moving away from Davons Watch wayshrine. For some reason, you do have to jump when heading toward it, though. I know. I know. What a petty little thing, but still.... lol

The truth is pretty much no one will even recognize it and if not care about it. This idea that others are watching and caring about what we do or don't do is unnecessary. It would have to be really extreme, that people would even stop and look at you for a moment - try it out - go to a crowded place in real life and shout for help or say something extreme really loud - the chance is high that no one will care, they might stop for a moment look at you and then continue with what they did before. You can really loose the anxiety that others would care for what you are doing - they don't.

Or the devs could just increase the float/int by about 15-20% of what it is and the problem would go away out right. [snip]

Many a wall in Tamriel is on my inanimate object enemies list.

Almost nobody is laughing at you we have all had the same problem at some point, I don't care how much of a fool I look like when jumping around just glad to have the option to jump over or onto stuff.

Nothing would annoy me as much as in older games without jump being blocked by a fallen tree or a hedge or any other thing you could literally step over without issue just because the devs don't want you to go that way, would rather invisible walls than that kind of crap.

Now if only they could get rid of the age old, "locked wooden door" while I am holding an axe or carrying explosives issue, if I could ever unhinge one of those doors I would have one of the strongest defensive items imaginable.

Animation has to happen as we go over things, and as things get higher, I am guessing that the animation has to change or the character's motions become odd looking. It is not just about adding to some value.

No, don't increase jump height. Do something that really improves the game.

    Climbing is a thing.

Let our characters be capable of jumping, grabbing a ledge up to the length of their arms, and actually pulling themselves up onto it.

Sadly, I wager this isn't possible with the current engine, which is why we got the goofy grappling hooks. Don't get me wrong, the grapple hook thing is fun, but... it's no substitute for our characters being able to actually climb things. This, among other things, is why I'd like to see an ESO2. For a world as large and as interesting as the one we have, revamping it into a new engine that actually allows things like climbing - and underwater exploration while we're at it - would seriously kick it up a notch.

Like anything else the game does, it would have to be added, and to be added, it would need a reason to be added. We do not know what the "game engine" is capable of doing. Maybe they did add it, but decided not to use it, or not use it for characters. NPCs can certainly climb, as we learned a while back.

However, like flying and underwater, character climbing introduces problems that were never solved in other parts of the game. By not solving those problems, they were free to go off and solve other problems. ESO today is the culmination of hundreds of these sorts of decisions. Adding climbing would force them to go back and change many parts of the game, from models and textures, to quests, to animation. It might require new skills in order to limit, or expand, how climbing is done. There would certainly be "no climbing zones" all over the place, and possibly new transparent walls blocking progress, but not aesthetics.
