A post from a few months ago on the ESO facebook depicting vampires.

This was posted on their facebook a few months ago before we had a chance to see the vampire-rework previews. "They are extremely good mages making them a dangerous enemy"

OH BOI where to begin with this post.

Firstly, they are once again using the picture of an actual vampire lord to advertis vampires in the game and since a big thing with the upcoming chapter is the vampire rework, someone could look at this and go "Wow we can turn into that???" When in reality we turn into something that looks like a cheap knock-off brand of the pic shown.

Secondly, they mention vampires are powerful mages yet I see no offensive Blood Magic in the vampire skill line. In fact the main damaging ability is a melee claw-swipe, something that isn't too magic-based at all. Very confusing.

You'd think for powerful mages we'd have something better than a re-skinned necro ult, a claw swipe, a self-heal that does no damage, a self buff, an AoE stun that deals no damage, and finally a movement/defensive ability that does even less damage than the drain ability that does no damage.

If I were to read this advertisement and come to play the game expecting to be a cool blood-magic wielding vampire lord-looking boyo then I would be extremely disappointed.

Granted, since this was posted months ago, perhaps something happened in development?

OH BOI where to begin with this post.

Firstly, they are once again using the picture of an actual vampire lord to advertise common-vampires in the game and since a big thing with the upcoming chapter is the vampire rework, someone could look at this and go "Wow we can turn into that???" When in reality we turn into something that looks like a cheap knock-off brand of that.

There is blood magic in the line, its just the blood magic abilties actually use your health.
Though I consider them being the most powerful undead to be misleading honestly. Until they give an explanation about how and why they are so living in nature and not reanimated corpses. I cannot treat them being undead seriously.
Though the abilties some of them are blood magic themed. Even the new mist form has a morph that gives your a more predatory mist form that draws life from foes I think and damages them. So they are not misleading on that.

Noooope, actually. The only ability that costs health is "blood frenzy", which correct me if I'm wrong, it is worded like this: "Go into a blood frenzy, increasing your Weapon and Spell Damage by 630"

And the definition of a blood frenzy just means you're on a frenzy for blood.

Has absolutely nothing to do with blood magic. Nice try though. Come again.

Eyy just to confirm, this was posted months ago near the announcement of the Greymoor Chapter.

The Noxiphilic Sanguivoria's variant of the Vampire Lord may not have been done by then, and the post doesn't actually state that this is what we, the players, will become.

It's ambiguous, sure, but the post is likely more intended to showcase the cool new enemy that we, the players, will get to fight and slay.

Hmm. True. But you gotta admit it is pretty scummy to say all of this about vampires when a big part of the upcoming chapter is the vampire rework.

And ah, rip, didn't know it was taken months ago, that is my bad. I kinda jumped on the gun on it a bit because I was like "wow hey"

Wrong. There's a morph of eviscerate that deals more damage, but costs health.

Well, I personally like the fact that the variant is new, but then whenever it is worse or better just becomes a matter of personal taste.

Yeaaaah, I noticed. But I could've clarified that in my initial post too in the other thread. But here we're.

One of the Eviscerate morphs costs health as well.

Ah, Bravo, a claw swipe that costs health.

I don't see how that is blood magic? Furthermore, actually now that you mention it, it doesn't really make sense why that ability costs health?

Well, I mean, objectively it is pretty bad since it is literally a re-skin of an already existing ability. That by itself is bad design all around.

But I can agree though that the form itself is new-ish and I can agree that liking the look of the form is a matter of personal taste.

I've yet to see a singular person excited about it being a necro-reskin though.
