✭✭✭✭✭Um.... no. They're doing one "full year" process at this point (and for the foreseeable future). I don't care to return to non-connected shorter pieces of stuff that's not really relevant in any interlaced way. I personally like it the way it is now, as opposed to when I started playing (2018).
And if they did choose to return to the non-connected setup, of course it wouldn't be at "the same price". It would likely be a lot more.6 -

I'm quite happy with the current content that leaves me logging off at certain points and logging back on the next day to keep experiencing something new. ✭I wouldn't mind an occasional self contained chapter or dlc. Or another multi part story that spans multiple chapters or dlc like Morrowind-Clockwork City-Summerset did. Let us explore a few different areas and cultures while continuing a main story line. Having a single year long story makes any real creativity story wise feel limited. Seeing how Morrowind tied into Clockwork City and tied into Summerset was interesting.
But also having some smaller scale stories would also be nice. I think that's what made Orsinium such a strong dlc. We didn't have one world threatening event after another. It still felt epic but on a smaller scale.Edited by ProfessorKittyhawk on April 22, 2020 3:29AM3 -

These 4K game files are getting huge. You need external storage these days to store your games. I’ve almost filled a 4TB drive on by Xbox one. Going to have to get another soon.0 -

Yes, they are. But company need money to fix many performance issues, redone some animations and just put more quality over quantity. If they give less content for the same money, they have more money to put more quality needed things.0 -

Not a winning argument, on your part. And it wouldn't be a successful strategy on their part.
If you read the forum, there is already very vocally unhappy sentiment being expressed with the cost of this year's chapter for the very reason that it is being perceived as being smaller than previous chapters.
Chapter or DLC doesn't matter. If you give less content for the same price, it's not going to make people happy.

✭✭✭✭I think it’s important that DLC content doesn’t become like recent Events, where there seems to be one running all the time.
New content, whether large or small, needs a certain amount of free time around it, to allow for build up and a certain amount of time for players to play through it.
We already have situations where the release of new DLC is affected by and sometimes overwhelmed by existing events. The Dragonhold DLC dropped just after the Witches event started and as a result it never felt like a ‘big’ thing... it never became the ‘one vital thing’ you needed to experience that day... and so doesn’t seem to have ever grasped players’ imaginations.
If every month or every day becomes ‘new dribble of content’ day, then no day is really special....
As for the idea that reduced content for the same price would translate into ZOS spending more on servers.... that does seem very naive... cynics might say it would simply encourage reducing headcount or transferring developers to other projects....2 -
fiender66✭✭✭✭You may enjoy them or not, but Summerset and Vvardenfell are almost full games by themselves, as is, on a slightly lesser scale, Clockwork City.
Instead, Golden Coast, though graphically conceived with evident love and care, it is not: you can explore it in about one hour, and the zone quest is rather limited in scope.
Also, the larger North Elsweyr is more complete, IMO, than the South one, with all those purring cats but no actual innovation for story and level design.
So, no, I definitely prefer bigger, more spaced between themselves DLCs.0 -
