Best place/method to acquire empty soul gems (without buying them)??

Is there a tried and true way to acquire empty soul gems in abundance? Looking for any and all suggestions.

✭✭✭✭✭I get more than I can possibly fill by doing daily writs. If you need them in bulk asap, then there is no fast immediate way other than buying them from a player or guild store or maybe finding someone to offload extras on you.1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Jewelry and enchanting writs both drop empty soul gems.
Enchanters (stores) and Mages Guild halls usually have some empty soul gems lying around for sticky fingers to find.
Sometimes you can find an empty soul gem near the entrance of a delve, either just outside the delve or just inside.I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!1 -

There's a merchant (Mathon Nosebreaker) near the center of town. He's got an outdoor stall with 8 -10 empty soul gems lying around that are relatively easy to steal.
I use Craglorn as my go to town for selling junk & deconstructing gear specifically so I can pick up a bunch of free soul gems every time I go to town.

✭✭I have never had to farm them now I think about it, I just have 1000's of the things. Just play the game, you'll be swimming in them in no time.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭The dragons in Southern Elsweyr seem to drop them a lot. I don't know how efficient that is in terms of soul gems/minute, but my char that has been running the kill 3 dragons daily for Dragonguard motif pages is always swimming in empty soul gems.1 -

Plus, if you're buying them to fill, to then vendor for 30g each, then buying them for anything up to about 17g each is obviously going to leave you with a pretty healthy profit.
If you are buying them to use, as you're low level and so expect to die a lot, I understand why you would prefer them to be free, though.
