In-Game example of Unarmed Magicka Melee Combat

So as I was online one night after work just walking around Pellitine I walked down to the beach outside south Senchal and found a camp with a single Maormer lady standing there. She was a hostile Mob Mini Boss type, but unarmed. When I drew aggro she attacked bare handed but then I noticed her punches had flame attacks. Then she did a flame round house kick. Then she did a flamethrower channel from her hands! ZOS had created a true Magicka Melee skill set for NPCs, and that's just a hop, skip, and a jump from being a Player Skill Tree.

You're not alone in that wish. I think it is unnatural when your spell damaged is defined by a staff you wield when you use, say, sorcerer's class spells. I mean it is natural, when that staff is used to calculate damage inflicted by staff-only spells like Force Pulse, Wall of Elements, but it is strange the same staff is used to calculate damage of your Crystal Fragments spell from the Sorcerer class skill line, especially if that skill line does not require to wield any weapons in order to use it's skills.

Have you fought Ri'Atahrashi? I think she's using his animations for her kicks and punches and whatnot.

It's not a skill line, and it's not fancy animations, but I'm finding Thrassian Stranglers + Pelinal's Aptitude to be quite a potent combination for unarmed combat...

Ooh, that's a great idea, I've always wanted to try out unarmed/monk in ESO, and, since there's no skill line or class for it, this sounds like something to work with in the meantime.

It would also would be an extra way to add more difficulty in overland questing because of taking 40% more damage. I'll have to try that out.

EDIT: Actually, on that last note, does anyone know of any other sets that cause you to take increased damage? (Probably with a bonus to trade off, but for this purpose, the beneficial effects aren't important) Vampire stage 4 post-Greymoor taking more fire damage, no passive healing regeneration, and not taking the undeath passive might be nice too, as well as increased non-vampire ability costs... anyway I'm too far off topic now, just message me.

I ran around Forgotten Wastes for a while and it was a blast. I managed to one-shot a few mobs with my character's bare fists, though I definitely had to watch my health bar. Getting killed was a drag, because it meant having to recharge my sload power all over again. (One time I went into stealth out of habit... That sucked.)

I saw it in grahtwood the other day. a NPC attacked a player, it was a khajit and it did that flame attack from his hands like the clip there. I couldn't believe what I saw and so I didn't think much of it, but it sounds like we are on our way to getting unarmed magic melee. would be nice, I would prefer it as a seperate skit line vs ZOS making a class out of this. so if ZOS is reading.... this needs to be a separate skill. tree, NOT A NEW CLASS. and believe me, im all in favor of new classes and races. but this needs to be a skill tree.

I mean its obvious that its coming in some iteration if you're finding it in game already. Developers like to tease out new content as they complete different aspects of a larger project. If you were creating an unarmed or monk class you wouldnt finish work on things and let it sit unused. You can start moving that into the game world early.

    So there it is.

I one day just unequipped my weapons an went out into Reapers March and started to just punch things. It was actually REALLY fun and a little comical that I was punching a Spider Daedra, but if I could actually make bare handed combat work with decent damage output...

Does this already have it's own theory crafting thread? Cause this needs it's own theory crafting thread.

You should also get a video of the Telvanni justice NPCs in Morrowind that summon a bound sword and start hitting you with it or channel flames at you. There a lot of melee magic users around.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

I was toying with making such a thread. My unarmed fighter on live does okay in overland content. Not great, but tolerable.

On PTS, with the Stranglers, she chewed mobs up and spit them out. She was also a lot more fragile, so the whole feel of combat was way more fast-paced. But all I've really done is kept her skills (StamDK) and swapped out her gear. There are lots of other angles that need to be explored--for instance, while I'm not inclined to think they'd work great, I still wonder if there's benefit to throwing some magicka attacks into the mix.
