Gold Set doubt

Hi, one question, the only way to go up to gold on the set I arm myself with is with professions? can I farm the set I want to arm myself with in gold instead of violet like the veterans?

The only way you can get a golden quality set is by getting it as a weekly reward through mails. But it's suepr unreliable, full of RNG method. So yeah, professions is your only solution to this.

There is no fast or at least feasible way to get the material to upgrade to gold? I mean, a way that you're sure that by doing such a thing you will have at least one of those materials, not like deconstructing, which is the possibility but it is very difficult, it seems to me that this system is TOO random.

You get upgrade materials through refinement. For example, gather 1 000 leather scraps, refine them and you should get around 5 golden upgrade materials. You will need 8 to upgrade a single item, provided your skill line in tailoring has appropriate passive skills.

So what you are looking for is buying a purple set from traders, then upgrading to gold with the materials?

Are you maxed out on crafting so that you can upgrade at the lowest cost in the gold mats? Have you got gold mats in your craft bag/bank? If you haven't maxed the crafting options, you're going to be up a creek without the proverbial. Gold mats on the traders are NOT cheap.... And if you haven't been crafting all along.... nope. There's no way to get the mats cheap or fast.

You need to craft on at least your main character, get all to 50, and be sure you hang onto the gold mats you get, if you want to do it as inexpensively as possible. It's not random, it's a very finely tuned system. I can gold out all my stuff on my mains, because I've been crafting for the two years I've been playing, so my mains are master crafters and I get a lot of gold mats just by doing daily writs. I never count on decon for anything good btw.

Also, I DON'T gold out stuff - no need for that since I don't have any interest in what passes for end game in this particular game.

If you're at the point in this game where you need to ask this question, your are not anywhere near the point where you would even slightly need gold gear. I think I ran around mostly purple for the first year or two, and even now(A few years later), I rarely gold everything out other than my weapons or if it's my pve/pvp mains.

    This.
Gold quality is only really important on weapons - where it increases the damage stat by somewhere around 20% up from purple quality, which is quite a huge boost.

Be sure to max out blacksmithing/woodworking, and get max rank in the temper expertise / resin expertise passives (which lower the cost of upgrading).

Don't bother with golding out armor or jewelry - the difference in stats between purple and gold is rather miniscule, and (especially in the case of jewelry) it hardly justifies the cost, unless you are seriously pushing that last 2-3% of stats for endgame content.

And realistically, by the time you reach the point where you're ready for endgame (if you even do - a lot of players don't, because they aren't interested), you will be swimming in gold upgrade mats.
For reference, I have around 1000 of each of the non-jewelry gold upgrade materials on my abandoned PCEU account, as well as a couple dozen chromium platings.

It's the same in PvP, you can do just fine with purple armor+jewelry and only the weapons upgraded to gold.
If you are dying a lot in PvP while wearing purple armor, upgrading to gold is the very least of your worries.

Largely agree, except for the last bit you say.

There isn't any character bound equipment in the game. Everything is account bound, including CP.

Once you get characters to level 50 and grind the first one to CP 160, all of your gear can be freely traded between and used by all of your characters.

Before reaching that point I wouldn't bother upgraded any gear past blue or purple.

If you only have a single CP160 character, then your other alts won't be able to use that gear yet anyway.

And it's not feasible for characters to freely use other characters' equipment without a respec, either.
You wouldn't want to put your tank's gear onto a squishy magicka DD, or your stamina DD's gear onto a magicka healer, for example.

First, leveling up your professions to put points where upgrading cost less is the most feasible way to upgrade or obtain gold gear.

Second, the most cost-effective way to get the gold matts for upgrading gear is from doing daily writs as the rewards often include gold upgrade matts for that profession. It is also lucrative in other ways as well.

Even top players who do get gold drops for some gear upgrade gear from purple to gold. With that, the benefit of upgrading from purple to gold is pretty small and not worth it for most. The exception of weapons. Weapons should always be gold as the benefit of the added WD/SD is significant.

You're not correcting me. You're just repeating what I said.

No. What I said is right.

There is no restriction on trading or equipping gear other than gear level v your level / CP.

And no, you're wrong. Characters aren't permanently locked into either roles or stat assignments. They can be changed.

It should go without saying that different gear may suit different roles / situations - but nevertheless my points totally unchallenged by you.

Once they meet the level / CP requirement, bound gear can be freely traded between and used by all of your alts.
