Question about I like M'aiq achievement

Is he always at ONE of the possible locations in a zone or might he not be at any location at a given time and appears at one randomly (which would make the achievement super hard and random?)

I have yet to experience a achievement-worthy region where I didn't find him somewhere eventually.

Tho sometimes it took me ages to find the locasion... granted, that was back in the day when I did chase that achievement on my main, years ago, I reckon by now all the locations will likely have been found, and listed in some guide somewhere...

I also am not sure when he will wander off from one location and appear at another. Or how the locasions actually work, it might even be that he only ever appears randomly, like... when you approach the location, the game rolls the dice (well, generates a random number) and checks if he is there for you or not...

Either way, tactic to complete achievement remains the same. Visit all locations, over and over, until you find him and hear some cryptic wisdom to cross off that region.

I did this achievement two years ago. I seem to remember that in a couple of the zones, he didn't seem to appear at all in any of the known locations in those zones at times. You just have to keep going back again and again. He'll show up eventually.
It's pretty tedious, but you're rewarded with a dye at the end.

It's completely random when he'll appear in one of the three spots per zone.

If you're on PC, I'd get the Destinations addon so you can see the locations.

I quite like the achievement and the white linen dye is good. It's probably the first zone achievement I get.

Just done this on a new account and thought I'd try riding to each location. By not porting I thought it would improve my chances of finding the elusive M'aiq as I would be in the same shard. Did not make any difference.

Best way is to go to each location (Destinations helps) and keep trying. I even re-logged at his location and he miraculously appeared.

    Take care and have fun.

This is the best sort of content in the game.

This achievement, the campfire one, the extorting the merchants one, the treasure maps, the monster trophy drops... There should be more of it introduced. It encourages exploration and is far more interesting than some of the "on rails" questing.

Even the relic hunts are far too easy now. The summerset relic hunt for example was a big let down compared to the Wrothgar or DB one.

More of these type of achievements please.

It is about 6 Spots per Zone, 2 or 3 in the Starter Zones and Coldharbor. He is only in the Original Release Zones, not any of the DLC Zones.

    https://app.uesp.net/wiki/Online:I_Like_M'aiq

He is not guaranteed to be in any one spot at any given time, however, if you do a lap of all the spots, in about 20 to 30 minutes, you will find him. Some zones like Alikir have a quick lap, some like Shadowfen do not. If you are on PC, there are a few addons that make this an easy achievement to get. Or, there are several maps online that show his spawn locations. He is in a Safe Area, but there may be nearby Mobs you can Aggro when getting to him.

Note, his spawn locations are usually very scenic places to hangout.

He has 3 Unique things to say in each zone, but will not say anymore after the third prompt.

He is the only one of these Achievements that is not instanced to you, any player nearby can talk to him. Light Bringer, Give to the Poor and one you intimidate the merchant can only be seen by you. (in some cases, they will spawn for multiple players in the same place, but it is still instanced so like you could be doing Light Bringer while someone else is doing the Give to the Poor). These 3 by the way have their own 5 or 6 spawn points per zone.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
